Well, Laz and I used to be bitter enemies way back and as you can see we get along fine. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm wrong, partially because I'm wrong about 90% of the time.

I'm all for Sanchez and Stafford at #3. I'd be OK with Curry too. In truth, even the idea I don't like (cough-Monroe-cough) I would accept. Because the fact is, I don't have any control over it. That's Scott Pioli's job, and I'll be damned if I'm not ready to let him do it.

I posed this scenario the other day...

Curry at #3...watch Sanchez fall past San Fran...trade up to around #15-#19 range with our 2nd, 3rd and a 2010 2nd...take Sanchez...and wondered if the QB or bust crowd would be happy...(because I think that would be Glenn Dorsey v2 - it was a great feeling on draft day when he fell to us...) but someone told me to stop playing Madden and no one really gave me an answer.

You didn't ask me, but the main thing I'd be concerned about is that we have a ton of holes to fill, so giving up a bunch of picks for one player would be tough.

In this scenario, we'd get the guy everyone wants at #3, but we'd only have to pay him a fraction of what he'd get at #3...

I think that is the best scenario for a QB...

The Browns are in a win/win with Brady Quinn...they pay him less than most established backup QB's make...he made less than Trent Green last year...he's potentially a franchise QB but if he does an Alex Smith impression the Browns won't be on the hook for $35M guaranteed...

Trading up for Sanchez (if Pioli thinks he's the guy) would be a no-brainer...I'd sacrifice draft picks for a potential franchise QB who'd only make $8-$10M guaranteed proving his worth.

Of course I'd also take Sanchez at #3 and pay him $30M guaranteed...it's time for the Chiefs to "gamble" and draft an actual QB prospect.

The NFL today values QB's SO much (to the point of insanity really, look at this board, it's a pretty good indicator) that he won't fall that far.

Hell, even the teams with established QB's might look at a guy like that as the next Aaron Rodgers that could sit for 2-3 seasons - like the Seahawks.

That's the long and short of it.

If there's one thing that hasn't changed about my attitude between before I left and now, it's that I'm tired of seeing the Chiefs do the same things over and over.

I want to see them do something new.

It used to be hiring a young up-and-coming GM and coach. We did those things.

The next thing on my checklist is to draft a QB.

I realize it's very unlikely...but the Browns were taking Quinn at #3...and surely if they didn't there was no way he'd slide past the Dolphins at #9 (Ginn - WTF?!)...

So you never know...

Shit, if you have to sacrifice a 2010 first to get a guy you value as a top QB prospect...you do it, right?

The Browns viewed Quinn as a great QB prospect...so taking him at #21 and giving up a 1st for them was worth it because they definitely would have taken him at #3 if Thomas wasn't available...

If Pioli ABSOLUTELY has to have someone at #3 that isn't Sanchez...but really likes Sanchez more than Thigpen/more than Bradford/more than any QB in 2010...why wouldn't he part with #34, a 3rd and a 2010 1st?

That's the nice thing about Pioli. If that is what he wants to do, he'll find a way to do it.

I'm not against Curry at #3...

A guy like Curry might actually free up our other 1st round pick at LB to start living up to his potential...DJ has the tools...Curry + DJ would be pretty awesome IMO...

If the Chiefs landed Curry and somehow managed to trade back into the 1st round and land Sanchez without Ricky Williams'ing their draft...I'd think they'd be major winners two years in a row.

Who knows. After what happened with Dorsey last year, watch Stafford fall into our laps at #3, making it all moot.

for some reason I like Sanchez more than Stafford...

I think Sanchez has "it"...I like his swagger...I think swagger/confidence is WAY more important than possessing Stafford's skill set.

Sanchez has plenty of skills to be a franchise QB...plus, the last Mexican we drafted worked out pretty well, don't you think?

I wish Sanchez had a few more games where USC was down and he had to fight back. See how he handles adversity.
