^what he said. Also, the best way to make sure that the guys you're drafting now are playing to their potential in 3-4 years is to have guys like Vrabel in the locker room when the're rookies.

Plus, you got a goal-line tight end out of it (8 career TD catches, since nobody ever bothers to cover him, pretty much.

When the Pats picked Seymour, people were mad that we didn't get Koren Robinson or David Terrell. When they picked Light, people were pissed, and even when they picked Mayo last year a bunch of people were mad that they didn't grab Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

It takes some getting used to, but they value attributes that don't necessarily jump out at us, and they rarely whiff altogether on a first rounder (Ben Watson and Laurence Maroney aren't exactly lighting it up, but neither's been a bust by a long shot). You'll also get a lot of starter-caliber players in the 3rd and 4th rounds.
But my mock drafts...MY PRECIOUS MOCK DRAFTS!!!

It seems to me like Schefter has a direct vine to Pioli's office, or someone close to there, because he's been on top of things more than anyone else since Pioli's arrival. Before Pioli's arrival he wasn't even able to predict if Pioli was going to go to KC...

Obviously, we were going to move to a 3-4. But this was the confirmation, and wasting Dorsey in a 3-4 is a bitter mother****ing pill to swallow.
well with all of the cap room we have...maybe the Chiefs will please you drafturbators, trade Dorsey, eat the ginormous cap hit that will follow, and we'll get another 1st round pick to play around with?

Yep. Vrabel is good, he still has some left in the tank. He is an instant locker room upgrade and definetely someone who is a "team" first player, who will help our youngsters, both on the field and off. This obviously is a leadership signing, seeing as Vrabel is near the end of his career. Also will help transition us to the 3-4, if that's what we are going to run.

Lets not overlook the fact that at 34 or 43 he's still a better option than Pat Thomas or Rocky ****in Boiman. I would not have traded for him personally but I will not claim to have knowledge of what is the best thing for any NFL team.

Yeah, because we'll get a first for Dorsey right now...

On the field leadership with Vrabel is fine. I am excited about that but if he was going to get cut then its pretty stupid to trade for him. Of course you need vets but you also need young guys. A 7th rounder might not be a starter but they can be the key special team pieces that teams need.

Also to all you guys who keep calling us draftautors or Mecca's minions or Gang 14 or whatever go fist yourselves. So some of us have the same ideas to build a team big freaking deal, we dont agree on everything or have the same taste in players.

Apparently you missed the part where I said that ANY draft pick is too much for something you already had on your roster and let walk, or could have signed in FA and saved that pick.

The only way I'll be OK with this deal is if it's something like a swap of picks in a later round.

But to flat out give up a pick for a 34 year old that is on the decline, even if conditional, is foolish when you're trying to rebuild.

This does not mean we won't be playing any 4-3.

You do not have to be 6'6" to be a successful 3-4 DE.
