So we get Vrabel and Cassel and the Pats first for our first and third plus some more flips? I wouldn't do that personally, but it's not the craziest thing I've read...

It's just speculation, but who knows at this point? With the Patriots dealing with the Chiefs, the terms of any trade might remain unknown for decades.

If a deal is made between the Chiefs and Patriots and nobody knows it, is it still a deal?

I'm waiting to hear that Jack Bauer's been hired to escort FA's and new acquisitions in and out of local clinics.

Still way too much to give up for Cassel.

Somebody on the radio just mentioned they'd heard we were in the running for houshmandzadeh. That could make things interesting. Bowe and Housh would not be Moss and Welker by any stretch, but we could do worse. Find some linemen and maybe there's enough there to carry Cassel the way the pats did last year.

depends on what our HC and Gailey think about him. Personally he has one big leg up on the draftees, he's actually played at NFL speed. I like stafford at #3, or this trade more than I actually like Sanchez, just my 2 cents.

I think when you're talking about a pick that high, ceiling has to be at least as important as immediate impact. He's obviously more ready right now than any rookie will be, but what can you expect him to be long term?

It seems like an awful lot to me, because I don't think his ceiling is all that high, although I also think if they do give up that much, they must believe he's an elite talent on a Brady/Manning level.

I understand, he's only had one good year in an NFL system, doesn't mean that it equals to long term success, but then isn't that also the arguement about Sanchez?

You're only talking about the risk side of the equation, and not the reward. The risk is obviously greater with any rookie QB taken high (sanchez or stafford or anybody...), but most would argue that the potential reward is also much higher.

Anyway, Sanchez doesn't really fit into what I was talking about. The question I was raising was what the potential reward is, long term, with Cassel himself. And again, I think if you're giving that combination of picks up, you're expecting him to be a star, regardless of what you think about Sanchez or Stafford or anybody else.

I would frigging LOVE this for both the trade and the EPIC MELTDOWN which would ensue on CP.

Here's what it says: We would get the Pats first back if this is true

SPECULATION: Vrable is part of bigger deal involving Cassel; from decent source

Wouldn't they pretty much have to have a deal in place with Cassel himself? It seems early for that.

Yes I agree you figure out compensation with the Pats 1st. But once you do that, you negotiate the money with Cassel before you pull the trigger on the deal.

So either the deal is complete which seems early, or there is no such deal for a 2 players trade, IMO.
