Cassel or Sanchez?

I realize that we are where we are, but the more I see about Sanchez, the more I'm afraid that a few years down the road, we may look back and realize that we passed up on the franchise guy that we've been looking for. I know that Cassel played ok last year, but is he a franchise guy? ...likely not. Thoughts?

There are quite a few flaws in your theory here. #1) NFL projection is not the same as success in college. #2) This year's draft does not reflect the players that will be going next year and the year after than Sanchez had the benefit of playing with #3) Sanchez was also able to manage the game because the defense was dominant, and do we need to go over those first and second round picks?

Hey, I'm allowed one, aren't I? One going out on a limb point? I really like his amazing completion percentage and mobility, and the fact that he's staying an extra year. The only two things that correlate to how a QB will do in the NFL is completion % and # of starts. That's it. And he's going to have a very good # for both.

Well, for starters, Pete **cking Carroll. That is a good place to start. See, when you have a great coach who has a great system, that is a leg up right there.

Next, we will go with a great defense that takes the pressure off of the QB.

Then, we can start to look at the offensive line. Byers is a pretty good place to start. I imagine he will get drafted pretty high. A second round prospect, at least.

Charles Brown will probably be in those top three rounds, don't you think?

O'Dowd is a prety good player IMO.


I know that he doesn't have Calvin Johnson to throw to or Moreno to run the ball.

But, you give a QB a great coach, a good defense and a good offensive line, and he will look pretty darn good.

While true, his problem is the fact that he plays in a spread offense, and that isn't looking too good, especially when you make the transition from a spread offense from college to a pro-set offense in the NFL.
