Any manager for this team is still being asked to make chicken salad.
Moore did not do himself any favors this year, that is for sure.

We hit like complete shit, and it's too pricey to go buy a bunch of bats.

Therefore, our FA plan should be to acquire one legit bat and then nothing but defense. And then some more defense. And a bit more defense just to be sure, since it's cheaper than trying to get some boppers.

Scutaro is a FA next year and will get big $'s. But he would be an upgrade of what we have now. Given our situation he would be an upgrade across the board. Just not big on paying someone like him the money we would have to pay.

Yes, and this is true of all teams in baseball.

The lengths that a player has to go to in order to be tagged with an error is ridiculous.

I don't care what it costs to get a legit 3-4 option at a middle infield position. Someone who can play plus defense and swing a respectable stick.

Whoever this is, pay him. Period.

I can't continue to watch this shit.

I believe we can look forward to seeing him whiff on low and outside breaking balls in late July.

Allard Baird and David Glass are responsible for the sorry state of the ML roster. Moore's trying to MacGyver a team with no drafted core together with bubblegum and duct tape. The problem here is, and has been, the farm system, which he started rebuilding in 2007, and the fruits of that aren't something you see immediately. If his drafts aren't paying off by 2011, then we can start talking about how much of it's his failure. For right now, it doesn't really matter which lower tier free agent he dangles money in front of to fill the numerous holes. They're just caulk.

I understand your point about the cock, and I applaud your passion.

While I agree with your big-picture view, with the vast majority of the blame going to Glass, there's little disputing the fact that the Royals spent some legit money this past off-season and Moore largely mishandled the funds. Trades, FA acquisitions and what not this past year have been terrible.

We knew offense was in short supply, but when Moore promised "whole-scale changes" at the end of last year, he's taken at least one big step back by assembling an embarrassing defensive team that STILL cannot hit.

No passion here, I haven't watched a game this year (not because I don't want to so much as I've been really, really busy...). I knew what was coming. What I do have is patience.

Trades and FA acquisitions were never going to save this team. That's why it's pointless to get upset about them. The vets they bring in aren't going to be cornerstone players, not for a perennial losing team with no talent core located in a small midwestern city. They're just placeholders for the future. And they're interchangeable. You could put any of a hundred names on the back of those jerseys, and the results would still be the same. This wasn't going to be better than a 75-win team regardless, not in 2009.

If this team is ever good again, it's going to come from the farm system.

Your passion for the cock, not the team.

I see what you're saying on one hand about the acquired talent, but the problem is that we were paying real money. This isn't the '04 Royals version, where we we armed with a ceiling of 3 mil. per to try to lure talent. We spent enough money that we could and should be expecting results.

As Chiefs fans well know, building a team cannot solely be done through the draft. Though this needs to be your foundation, other avenues must be utilized to get optimum results.
