I'd only attempt to make changes after my son was born.

I'd have not cared what people thought in high school. Other than that, where I'm at right now is mostly due to my reaction to external factors beyond my control.

If I could go back and change things, one thing I would have done differently is that instead of enlisting in the Navy, I would have enlisted in the Grammar Police.

There are 2 different arguements. 1, you can better your life. 2, your life will change because you change your past.
Both are valid. My wife is my world, and I wouldn't give her up for anything. I think there is a pretty high probability that she is ONLY girl alive that could live with my dumbass. If that's the case, odds are we would have gotten together anyway. However, given my desire to improve my life, if given the opportunity, I think I would go back and change things. I just couldn't live with passing up the opportunity to improve my life. |

Like many I have several regrets, that said I would not change anything as it would change the events that led to my two kids and there is nothing in life I would trade for them~

of course it depends on whether you would remember what you need to change
if you are just going to go back to a certain date and then do the same dam thing you did before then it's pointless.

As much as I would like to, I wouldn't want to change my entire future just to fix a few specific things.

There are some things I'd change to eliminate the pain of learning some lessons. I'm happy with my life right now, but there were a couple of detours through hard territories that I could've avoided with the benefit of hindsight.

There are some things that I would love to change... but if it meant NOT getting with my wife and having my kids, then it would be worthless to do.
Well, I'm sure I could find many cool wives... but I doubt I could have my same kids, if I went back and made changes. So, I probably wouldn't go back |

The short version of the story is this: Christina and I were engaged on New Years' 1991/1992, but she called it off in April because I was selfish and stupid and unmotivated and didn't try hard enough. She went on to marry a guy who didn't treat her very well, but he held a job and was respectable enough, but she had told her family that she wished she'd stayed with me. I went on to grow up, become stable, and marry another girl who I thought was similarly sweet and kind and loving, but in reality it was all about her, she made unreasonable demands of everything, and sported a temper she couldn't control, so we've since divorced. In all likelihood, if I had done more, finished school, worked harder at keeping her, Christina and I would have stayed together, and we'd be completely happy (which we were when we were together), and maybe we'd have her three kids together, rather than the zero I have with my ex-wife.
Christina died on May 5 of last year from brain cancer, age 38. So, the answer is "in a heartbeat". |
