Even if he IS there, I'm still open for business to trade down. The dropoff to the next safety is not as big as some may imply.
I am certainly not spending additional picks to move up and get him.

You stand pat and take Dan Williams or Brandon Graham, if you refuse to draft Clausen.

No trading up period. Unless we want a QB, there isn't a player so valuable that we need to lock on to him so we can win it all now. If Berry is there great, if not so be it. If we get offered a great opportunity to trade down, why not. Flexiablility in the draft is how teams draft well in the first place.

I'm sure as a former AFC West rival, Shanahan might still find a little joy in screwing us over.

I'd relax about it. Mike Shanahan knows how to build an offense. He's not that stupid to tie up another resource in a secondary they've already spent a lot on.

And if it happens this way, it will be either Okung or McClain. I would have been okay with McClain until the revelation about his health concerns came out. And I'm all for rebuilding the interior of the OL but not with the 5th pick. And I don't see anyone wanting to come up to the 5 spot. Looks like I'll be hating me some Washington Redsins after tonight.

if we ended up with Okung at #5...the only way the draft would be saved for me is if we miracled it up and took Clausen around #20-23...
that's been my dream scenario since our pick was announced...(and I was laughed at, for the record)... Berry at 5, Clausen at mid-late 1st... |
