Studebaker's extension thru 2013
Chiefs' Extension To Andy Studebaker Goes Through 2013
![]() ![]() More photos » Ed Zurga - AP The Kansas City Chiefs contract extension to linebacker Andy Studebaker is for three years, per NFLPA records. Studebaker was entering the final year of his contract in 2010. He was due $470,000 in base salaries for 2010 but that is now $1.3 million so not a bad bump in pay. He'll make just under $4.5 million the following three years topping out at just over $2 million in 2013. There could be bonuses and things like that included but I've got no information on that. So...not a bad week for the Wheaton product, huh? |

I don't want to get off topic, but it's bugging me..
Jamaal Charles has worked his tail off and has done a lot to help this football team (especially last year when he was the only offensive player who should have gone to the Pro Bowl.) Charles helped lift the team up this season for the first regular season touchdown by a Chief from 56 yards. He is still sitting with a crappy contract, and Studebaker gets an extension? This isn't to bash Studebaker. Good for him.. Do the Chiefs not want to keep Charles? ![]() |

I bet there aren't many his age that do. Vested vets, sure.
Can you provide 5 examples or rotational linebackers 25-26 making that kinda bread? |

League minimum for a fourth year player is $550k. There are teams like the Vikings and Cowboys that have $150 million dollar payrolls for 53 guys. Even though it's not all "even", that's nearly $3 million a guy. This is a tiny contract. |

Here's a list of every linebacker's salary in 2009.
http://content.usatoday.com/sports/f...n.aspx?pos=150 26 players made between 1.25 and 2 million dollars. Cut out some rookie contracts and you still have a shitload of players. Some are older, some are younger, but a lot of players fit into that salary grouping. NB: Those are cap values. The actual amounts, with bonuses, etc, will vary.

Hunter Hillenmeyer, Ricky Brown, Pierre Woods, Rashad Jeanty, Na'il Diggs. These are the kinds of guys who get paid like Studebaker.

Im not trying to argue it, but guards and linebackers get the least amount of the money out of those payrolls.
Id like to see some examples to see who they paid him comparatively to. I nailed it when I showed Aaron Rodgers (6/65) was who they looked as a comparable guy to Cassel when they did his deal (and failed epically) and Id like to see who they comparatively paid Studebaker to. That's all. He wil make more than Clay Matthews this year according to rotoworld and his total value of the deal is more than Curtis Lofton signed for as a second rounder. He will make more than Jon Beason this year as well and he was a first rounder and is the same age... Just a couple examples. |

IMO... Studebaker raise is just about right for what he does on the field. He worked his ass off during the offseason, and it shows. He's a playmaker on special teams in the Gary Stills / Mike Maslowski mold and a respectable (not great) pass rusher on situational plays. Good for him and thanks to Hunt for showing the team that solid play on the field and offseason commitment pays off.
