when they used to stop NFL games when the crowd was too loud? I think the home crowd could even draw a penalty for being too loud (5 yards or something). I'm pretty sure I'm remembering this correctly and it wasn't even that long ago. WTF was that all about?!?

It's probably still on the books to discourage artificial crowd noise pumped in (Colts..), and artificial noisemakers (vuvuzelas, air horns, etc).
