Plus, I think the whole prequel thing kind of degraded the value of the story line in the original. BUT it didn't do it as bad as I thought it would. In order to keep interest until 2012, it was necessary.

the whole idea of that battle was to find a way to reintroduce Gannicus in the next season besides, because he actually existed in history as one Spartacus's lieutenants .
