I'm going to Vegas, baby!

OK, just got done booking a trip to Vegas in April. This will be my first time. Actually it will be my first real vacation ever. I have a few weeks to plan and I want to see as much stuff as possible.

Hit me with your recommendations. I want to know what places I need to visit, restaurants can't be missed, sights I should see. Trying to keep a budget so dropping big money on a bunch of shows isn't really my thing. I might gamble a little but I'm not big on gambling. I will be looking for photo spots though. I will be bringing my camera and taking a ton of pictures.

So what do you think, Planet? What do I need to see in VEGAS?

EDIT: Here's the link to the pics: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...&postcount=106

Thanks everybody!

Yes, but by foot it's a little more than that.

There is a bar between the Flamingo and Bally's that is a lot of fun. $4 pitchers and Fat Elvis singing live kicks ass.

Probably the best thing we did besides going to the Hoover Dam.

It's five hours if you run. But yeah, probably an hour by car regardless of whether donger's driving.

Oh, and if you end up getting a room with an eastern view, you might be able to see the Janet terminal and planes.

Oh, and do a search here for Vegas. There are plenty of threads on the subject already.

Good advice. You might ask the lovely Carlotta for inside info on what is going on right now.

First glance, I thought that said, "And you can see Janet topless," and I thought, I've already seen Janet topless.

Heh. Not quite as visually appealing (I presume), but it's kind of neat.

*If you are going with a girl you really care about be sure and take her to the Red R
Rooster

*Take your shrooms about 30 minutes before you hit Fremont at night

*Those big cups stacked by the slot machines are for big drinks. Grab one and fill it with your favorite alchoholic beverage and you can drink from it wherever you go.

It is perfect. I used to think that it was great to get free beverages while gambling, but it ends up costing a lot more while being frustrating.

There used to be a mechanical horse race table on the second floor of Imperial Palace. Quarter bets against odds and the bar was 5 feet away for free beverages. It was fairly quiet, too, which is hard to find in Vegas.

Find the $5 football beers (44 ounces) downtown and they will refill them for $3. Catch the light show (at night) on the canopy while you are there.

Request a coupon book at the front when you check in. While you walk around Vegas you will constantly save $$$.

Oh, NEVER sign up for free ANYTHING. Those bastards will literally grab you while walking by and try to get you to come to a free dinner while they press you for a time-share sale. I have never been burned, but I just about punched a a salesman for grabbing my shoulder.

Wow. Quarter mechanical horse racing on the second floor of the shittiest house in Vegas? Why even go if you are on that much of a budget?
