2011 Kansas City Royals Repository Thread

2011 Slogan: "Major League Moments"

A better, more accurate 2011 Slogan: "Cheap tickets and free sh**"
(from jbwm89)

Back by popular demand, this is the 2011 version of the Royals Repository Thread. Get ready for another year of really bad baseball as we patiently wait for one of the greatest farm systems in modern MLB history to send mega-hyped prospects up to Omaha and beyond.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

Quote:
If you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

I assume he'll be exposed to the rule v draft next year if he stays down, and he might even be eligible for minor league free agency for all I know after this season, but I didn't bother to figure it out because I assume we'll release him if he doesn't perform soon.

Lucas May was designated today. He must be traded, waived, or released within 10 days. If we waive him and he's not claimed, I assume we'll send him to Omaha.

Barrera will be eligible to return (if healthy) in the middle of May, and Kendall can come off the 15-day in about a week.

The Royals now have only 39 players on their 40-man roster. Unless they plan on promoting someone soon, they could be trolling the waiver wire.
A better option for KC to do is to DFA Kendall and move on. At least that's what I'd do, if I was the GM. Even that, I wouldn't even have bothered to give him a contract in the first place, unlike Dayton.

Anybody going to opening day tomorrow? I'm looking forward to it, espcially after what the Tigers have put me through the last 10 days....I need a beer and another shitty team to follow.

Do you think Jason Kendall is taking tips from Chuck Knobloch on how to milk the Royals as much as possible at the end of your career?

I'd just release him. I don't even want Kendall in Omaha and there's no way we could trade him for anything.

I understand Yost's affinity for Kendall, but it's time to just cut bait here. How many valuable at-bats and catching time did he take away from Pena last year, just to keep his ironman reputation going?

Looks like the royals are now finally on their way to selling out opening day. It might not be until the walkup crowd buys the last ticket, but it'll happen. If you were thinking about going and didnt buy when I posted that there were good tickets available, then shame on you because the best I could find now for two tickets were crappy upperdeck tickets in the far, far RF corner.

The house will be completely full as we all excitedly watch Luke give up 7 runs in the 2nd inning to lose the game.

Would love to see Sweeney pull a hammy stumbling up the first base line for old times sake while being honored today. Also, look for Bo Jackson today according to Toby Cook, Royals PR. Opening Day, this is like the Guinness St. Patty's Day commercial minus the Royals pajamas.
