**Official MU Head Coach Search Thread**

Seems like this deserves its own thread. The news will start coming fast over the next week or two, IMO. Recruiting is a 365-day event and we can't afford to be rudderless for long.

My vote - Cuonzo Martin.

Discuss.

Aint that the truth. Raising the level of competition is what it's all about.

Eh, those are the same type of people that enabled Carl Peterson for a decade and a half.

I think it's reasonable to be skeptical about a guy who wasn't on anyone's radar. I think it's reasonable to take some of the criticisms of the guy (no offensive identity, poor conference records, etc.) into account in your skepticism.

I also think it's reasonable to look for the positives that Mike Alden might have seen. Perhaps one "positive", i.e. that Haith is a guy who wouldn't turn Alden down and might not break the bank, is really a negative. But there are others. For example, the weight of the evidence suggests that the guy can recruit. He has experience recruiting Texas as well as the hotbed of Florida and other areas. He's known for running a clean program. He's already experienced running a program at the D1 level.

I'm perfectly fine with people being disappointed with this hire. I'm fine with people criticizing it and offering the opinion that Steve Alford would have been a better choice. It's my nature to be more optimistic than that, but I don't have a problem with criticism. I have a problem with the know-it-all tone and the hyper-criticsm. It makes people who may otherwise be thoughtful look like ignorant, angry mouth-breathers and that's not how I want Mizzou fans to look.

this will turn out just the way last years chiefs draft was. Everybody hated what we got back then, even though they only knew the players names. Once training camp came along and they hear that the rookies are doing good, they finally stopped talking shit on all the players, notably McCluster, and we ended with one of teh best draft classes in the NFL 2011 season.

just sayin ._.

So you're still not going to offer an opinion of your own, eh?

Figured.

Uh...the people that hated that draft were, by and large, correct. Those people hated the McCluster pick and the Arenas pick most of all.

Neither of those guys even approached their draft status.

Tell me you're just ****ing with me here.

so after the chargers night game, everybody still hated mccluster and arenas?

they're rookies... 2nd and 3rd rounders should be expected to play alot,(which they did) but they shouldn't be expected to be probowl caliber players, which is why you guys should stop killing yourselves with unrealistic expectations.

I'm not a Missouri fan. I'm a college basketball fan that follows ACC basketball closer than any other college sport.

He's an awful hire. There is nothing, absolutely nothing he did at UM to stand out to the point to get a raise and a promotion in programs.

I did offer my opinion. My opinion is that I don't know anything about the guy so I'll have to wait and see how he handles the two items I mentioned earlier in the thread (his current crop of veterans for next season and his scholarships for the future). I'm disappointed compared to the promise of a Matt Painter regime, but I'm happy we didn't end up with Shaka Smart or most of the other guys mentioned over the past few days. I guess I'm about where I'd be if they hired Steve Alford.

If your test is whether or not I give the guy his grade before he even steps into the classroom for the first lesson, much less the first test, sorry to disappoint.
