Woke up this morning still stoked about how things turned out last night for the Chiefs. Going back to January (thread was bumped in Draft forum) I didn't even think Baldwin would fall to us.

We got a primo WR with great size & strength, outstanding hands, and rare athleticism (hops). We also added what could be a very important early 3rd round pick.

Can't wait for the draft to resume tonight.

I know you were being funny.... but I am sure this is actually part of what goes into picking a WR For this team.

The only thing that bugs me is that I think the Chiefs could have traded down if the Ravens hadn't 'passed'.

If the Ravens make the pick, then I think the Chiefs trade back. I like Baldwin, but I don't 'love' Baldwin.

I would have been happier to get another pick.

But, Pioli, in my opinion definitely gets a solid B so far for this draft.

There are a few things here.

#1) Guys as big as Baldwin rarely look as fast as they are. They have long strides and are running much faster than most realize.

#2) Baldwin runs sloppy routes. That is something that can be worked on. If he can get more crisp in and out of his breaks, he will look faster.

#3) Personally, I think the Chiefs have a very fast guy to put in the slot already on the roster. That guy is McCluster.

Admittedly, I am not 'wowed' by the pick. But, he is bigger and faster than Bowe, and he has MUCH better hands. His body control is not quite as good, but that is expected with a guy that tall. His vertical is also NINE inches more than Bowe's. Insane.

Oh, and the route running would be more of a concern is Cassel was a precise passer. He isn't. I am not a Cassel basher. He has a lot of good qualities, but he isn't the kind of guy that will put the ball exactly where it needs to be. So, the bigger, physical pass catchers are a HUGE plus.

He wasn't bragging. Someone mentioned what the Pats got for trading back and what the Chiefs got.... then basically bashed the Chiefs for not getting much.

He was just pointing out that the Pats moved a lot further down.

So, do we take a QB this year? If so, what round would you want to take him in?

The general consensus is they probably do, but not until the 4th or 5th......3rd at the earliest now that they have an extra pick. Stanzi from Iowa has been mentioned alot.

In morning hindsight: Saints made out with two top-tier guys. Chiefs and Pats both did very well (got the guy they apparently wanted, plus extra picks out of it as a bonus). Browns are an enigma, as they traded down (good) but then traded back up (bad). I guess, if their guy pans out for them, they did it right.

As a Pats fan, I didn't like passing up guys like Jordan, Wilkerson, and Heyward. However, those guys are all D-linemen, which is not an area of great need for the Pats (although they could've tried them at LB, where they do have a need). But they now have two 1s again next season (theirs plus the Saints), and now have three 2s for tonight (which will probably turn into even more picks as I bet they trade out of that top spot at 6:01pm). They do need help at many spots (LB, RB, WR, OL) but they also managed to go 14-2 last season, so... In Belichick We Trust is the motto around here. (Although I'm slightly less trusting after the past five years of chokejobs.)

Way less than "meh". The Bucs GM had to do some serious damage control in his press conference. He had to explain away wasting a top 20 pick on a no talent scrub who will be limited to RDE because of his bad arm. I predict Clayborn will last his first contract and be out of the NFL.
