HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

I don't know why they had littlefinger tell Sansa about the Hounds burns. I remember in the books it being important for the Hound to tell her himself. That seems a drastic change for me, but they will probably make up for it in another scene.

Once again, I'm not expecting a lot of action. That's not necessary for me to enjoy a show. Advancing the plot would be nice though instead of people just sitting around talking about bullshit.
Half the scenes have no ****ing point. They've done a terrible job of condensing a 700-page novel to a TV format. |

And I'd like to hear which scenes have no point.

The worst thing about Game of Thrones is that they always sneak in a cool scene at the end that drags me back for the next week, because I want to see what happens. Bastards.

Every scene is pertinent. There's no excess fat. That's why the show is so ripe for repeat viewings. Elements which might seem extraneous now won't seem so later on. There's a metric ton of foreshadowing going on, in particular. Just like in the books.

You're not stupid, but you don't appear to watch TV with a very active mind. You don't seem very adept at making inferences or predictions, which is one of the joys of this type if show. And yes, the scene with Viserys and the whore advanced the plot as did the one with Jaime waiting outside while Robert frolicked with his whores.

You're like the ONLY person in this thread who has that opinion.

But, to each their own. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Maybe David Lynch's Dune is playing on SyFy. You might like that. |
