Pioli has shown from day 1 that it was about finding and installing the right people in place. He did this by hiring the right scouts, and coaches but also finding the right players who know their roles in the schemes that are being run and also have the potential to produce.

His main goal is to accomplish long term success. Consistency. This means not just having one winning season, but having consecutive winning seasons. You don't do this by having too much turnover on your roster. You do this by installing a winning system set out by the coaches, and the players have to understand and buy into that system, know their role and produce. If they are successful at it, then we all know it is working. For the Chiefs it is all about chemistry and cohesiveness amongst the players, coaches, etc. I really believe that is what they are trying to emphasize. That, and player development. You can only maintain that by keeping your own players, and coaches. Player development, chemistry, cohesiveness, that all comes with time. Its all about patience and is part of a winning formula.

Just because he hasn't signed many players, I really don't think there is a real need to hit the panic button. It's obvious he is trying to find the right guy that can fit into the teams plans. That requires plenty of evaluation, and sometimes the market presents with very little of those players. Now they could be taking their time, and who knows, maybe they will find that right guy that will fit into the teams plans? I noticed from day 1, he has been a patient type and has been rewarded with improving the team. The patient moves are sometimes are the best ones and usually the most sound.
Yes, but sometimes when you have some of the holes we have at certain positions you have no choice unless you want to jeopardize the season. We have big enough holes at nose tackle, offensive tackle, and defensive end depth that if we don't address those needs we are ****ed.

Shying away?

I am directly quoting things you are saying and responding to them.

You are creating an opposition to people who don't exist saying things that aren't being said.

i.e. the myth of the casual fan that things we have no problems. You build straw men and congratulate yourself for knocking it down.

The funny thing was keg was pretty much saying the same exact thing just in a different way and you guys agreed with him. lol.

Feel free to cherry pick certain posts. I think making a parody of all the ridiculous twitter messages that go through every second is hilairious.

I know you are taking this all personally and I don't know what to tell you it isn't personal. You don't have the exclusive license on good football talk and when you get pissy when other people who don't recognize the pedestal you have built for yourself it is hilarious and I will mention it.

Who do you think the Chiefs could sign at this point, Zach?

Any free agents you really want? What do you think they might cost?

I would love to have Franklin...I wish we would have held on to Smith and wouldn't have been bothered by giving him some money...because we have it. It would be nice if we had this little problem at another position because it takes a while for DTs to come along. I don't think Gregg has a lot of time left but he has good vision and is smart. I think he would be good to pick up and throw in the rotation. McClain is a want but it isn't a huge deal if he goes somewhere else. I would bet he comes with us.

I am still concerned with our ability to get short yardage...I pretty much hate our situation at center. However, I think we pass more this year than we did previously. Cost? Not sure...I am not well read in the dynamics of the new FA world and it seems like every time a name comes through the wire with a number attached to it that number is pretty surprising.

I look for Belcher, Moeki, and Flowers to ascend this coming year.

Plenty of football has been talked about even with your cherry picking. Is there anything earth shattering? No, because its mother ****ing football it isn't rocket science. It is a pretty simple game.

I think too little of emphasis is given to all the different variables that go into these deals.

On our end, and some of the owners ends. I think the owners who are spending like they're on shop 'til ya drop are very foolish. I do like Pioli and crews approach to free agency. I love it actually.

It may not be fun right now, playing the waiting game, and of course we don't really get to compete in the dick measuring contest that is going on with each teams signings. I think it's wise though. ESPN will talk prematurely about who is doing the best in free agency, but it's not over. I think the Chiefs will be talked about highly when all is said and done.

Remember, Franklin and McClain haven't really been mentioned by anyone. So it's not like we're losing to anyone. There are plenty of top shelf guys left, and you haven't heard JACK about what is going on with them. Look at Zach Miller, heard anything about him?

I think they have probably done their homework. Assessed the players they like and who they don't. Established how those players will benefit them in conjunction with how they wish to be paid. How many years each guy is a viable option vs. how long they need him to be. All while feeling out the market for these players.

Nobody, as far as we know, has expressed much interest in Franklin. Does this make him a bit cheaper? There hasn't been the same feeding frenzy for NT's there has been in years past.

I think there is something more than meets the eye with Franklin or we would have signed him already.

he might be just as washed up as Gregg at this point. Franklin fell off a cliff last season in production.

We are riding off the hype of him 2 seasons ago, when Willis vouched for him 2 years ago. The guy was franchised TWICE by the 49ers. Willis vouched for him PRIOR to last season.

Issac Sopagoa or whatever his name is is clearly the better player, which is why the 49ers can part with Franklin.

I'm not sure Franklin is in the same form as he was 2 seasons ago which makes sense why the 49ers tagged him twice, ran him into the ground and didnt want to give him a long term pay day as they had other guys waiting in the wings.

Also the automatic correlation that more action = better team doesn't really bare out. If we are going to the pull the trigger it would be nice to have guys so we get them here and get them acclimated and get everyone on the train for sure.

Side note. Baldwin's arms are long as hell. lol.

I bet us seemingly cooling off getting Shaun Smith back on board had a lot to do with Ty warrens release. They play the same position.

If his hip checks out, I wouldnt be a bit surprised to see him in Red N Gold.

Id rather pay him 6-7 million per year over paying Shaun Smith 5...again, if his hip checks out.

The trouble with this, is that Pioli has his rep on the line with Cassel and TJ and a signing like that would be admitting failure in his first two draft pick usages.

Could be but that is the thing. It is so hard to know. That doesn't make any of us stupid or ignorant there are just so many important factors that we can't know on the outside looking in. The number Scott wants to pay the number these guys want...their medical conditions. The risk\return is so variable in this stuff. You just have to sit back and trust the guy you hired or you will go mad. Lucky for us Scott has earned that trust. At least for me.

I did like the edge that Smith brought to the table.

I remember posting this after the Bills game.

The kicker had just made that kick and Smith goes waltzing over there mouthing off...right in his face. The kicker just stood there for a while and then motioned him to get out of his face and go back where he came from. It took the ref to go over to Smith and tell him to get on his own end of the line of scrimmage.

A min. later another kick happens and he misses it.

I would pay money to hear what Smith was saying to that guy.

Did anyone else see this?
