We're shopping college now with my oldest, a H.S. senior. I'm just loving every little moment of this year, her fighting with her younger sister, losing it over silly stuff. Our home is going to be a much different place when she's away.

I can only imagine what it feels like for a dad to see his own daughter leave home and ready to lead a independent life on her own. Thats never an easy thing to experience. My heart goes out to you man.

My oldest has been on her own for about a year. Her younger sister left her mom's several months ago and lives at grandma's here in KC. Our Reese is 8 already. It's just unbelievable how time flies.

My son left for College this year. He is only 40 miles away, so not far enough to miss per-say. But happy to see him growing into adulthood. And glad I'm not in "charge" of him anymore, living for myself after 17 plus years, liberating for both of us. I do miss him from time to time, and he says the same. We are good friends, father and son first, but still good friends.

It's bad enough my own kids make me feel old but I've noticed the past couple of years that my internet friends' kids now make me feel old. So many little ones we were posting pics of and talking/bragging about 10+ years ago are now in high school, college, the military, etc.. I suppose that's to be expected but it just sort of sneaks up on you. I don't look forward to my own daughter reaching that age - I will miss her so much.
