Raiders Trade for Carson Palmer

Per Rotoworld, the Raiders are close to acquiring Carson Palmer.

On my phone, so no link, but what the hell do the Raiders have left to trade?

Wow, 300+ replies on a Chief board about a Raider trade?

Lol, you guys really need to worry about your own team. You know, the one that is in the Suck for Luck race?

The Raiders will be fine. Carson knows the system and will step in and make it a seamless transition. We don't even need him to play this week against you guys.

The Raiders can curb stomp the Chiefs with Kyle freaking Boller at QB.

You have the most clever user name I have ever seen. Can you get that to fit on a custom license plate?

yeah but the compensation given up for palmer makes their risk MUCH more.

a first and a second is rape, if it ends up being 2 firsts the bengals dug up al's corpse and raped it too.

Montana: old but proven throughout his career, only one 1st round pick given up
Green: widely considered to have significant upside
Cassel: unproven, supposedly had significant upside

All three were risks, but considered to (a) have major upside, or (b) had proven themselves throughout their career. None of these are akin to the Palmer trade. Furthermore, we gave up a 1st for a Hall of Fame QB, a 1st for an older, ascending QB, and a 2nd for a young QB who had a very good year with a Super Bowl-caliber team. These are calculated risks that hinge on upside.

Carson Palmer threw 20 interceptions last year, had a Cassel-esque year in 09, didn't really play in 08, and threw 20 interceptions in 07. He has done nothing in 5 years. There is little upside, little potential. They're banking on a 1st and 2nd round trade to find the fountain of youth (pre-surgery, mind you).

I see this as 10x more risky than any QB trade the Chiefs have made in the last 20 years.

Good trade for the Raiders actually. I been saying it since last year they were a QB away from being a contender. Dont laugh just yet, this might put the Raiders on top of the AFC West for the next 5 years. And when you win the division, you go to the playoffs.

Don't be surprised to see Oakland in the playoffs this year and the next 4-5. Didnt Hue Jackson coached the WR's in Cinci when he and Palmer were there?. The Raiders offense is pretty identical to what the Bengals ran while Hue was there. Raiders got some young speedy WR's now. And Palmer's got a solid running game behind him.

Don't be surprised to see Palmer get back to his pro bowl status now.

Palmer has been a shell of his former self since the knee injury.

So is Al still alive or just running the team from Hell?

Maybe since he is in Hell he wants all the Raider's fans to know what it is like.

the Bengals got the best deal in 20 years on a player, especially since he hasn't been any good for a while now. I love it! LOL, I always knew good old Al was a vampire, he's back!
