I've been listening to the radio stuff and everyone treats Zenger like he's the AD lovechild that Don Draper and Machiavelli's Prince would have created. I've not seen this much blind faith since Pioli's first couple of weeks. Why? What about his time at Illinois State has convinced everyone that this guy is a mastermind?

I mean he seems qualified enough, but Perkins had a much better resume/reputation coming into Lawrence and that didn't work out so well. Why is it just assumed that this didn't happen because Zenger didn't want it to?

I think the status of the XII may have actually come into play here.

All reports by who? Speculators? sure, I'll certainly agree with that. Zenger said he was going to play this one close to vest, and has done so. The LJW and many KU fans have proclaimed massive love for Leach, but we don't know if Leach even really wanted to come to KU at all. Again, it's all speculation.. and a pathetic writer like Keegan doing everything in his power to write articles trying to sway Zenger into getting Leach doesn't mean he's our #1 target. I certainly don't know. My own personal favorites for the job are just that, I have no idea if Zenger is actually screening any of them. We'll find out eventually the details, I'd imagine.

Zenger seems like a smart guy, but he's not really done anything yet. I think people are HOPING he's the lovechild you speak of. I certainly do.. this hire he's about to make might be the single most important thing he does in his entire KU career. Forgive me if I'm withholding judgement on both Leach or Zenger until later in the process.
