Maybe so. Or maybe they wasted three years on an okay QB that's not franchise. I think Tampa and the Jets are both really wondering the same thing.

I want a first round QB too and think that's the only way we should go. But choosing the wrong first rounder will set the franchise backward too. A few years from now, the Bucs may end up saying... maybe we should have gone the Browns' route (with Brady Quinn) and cut our losses.

"But choosing the wrong first rounder will set the franchise backward too." How is that any different than picking up career back up? We have three playoff wins since SB IV. From a playoff standpoint, drafting a 1st round QB and failing with him cant set us back anymore than the crap we constantly bring in does.

Exactly. Even when you "fail" with the franchise QB like he alludes to with Sanchez, the team has at least won a few playoff games and made the AFC Championship.

Which is why the Chiefs needed to see what Stanzi has, even if its to be backup to said 1st round pick. We have not had a QB start more than 5 seasons since Len Dawson.

What would that accomplish?

Isn't winning the Super Bowl the goal?

Nope. The goal is a full Arrowhead, scores of money spent on concessions, and the hope that things just might go our way with retread "X" if we try long enough.

Such a moronic line of argument. How can you set a franchise back if the franchise hasn't gone anywhere? Drafting a QB high that fails only sets you back from the retread route whose ceiling is 10-6 and a first round playoff ass whipping.

Big. ****ing. Deal.

I am in the "draft first round talent" boat all in.

I just find te logic nuts that people will exaggerate to make that point. The chiefs are in the same place right now as Tampa and the jets. Yeah Freeman and Sanchez have more upside but they are moat definitely not shining examples of an risks that paid off.

And none of this playoff win bullshit. Sanchez has proven to be a game manager so far not a franchise qb.

You are not all in. You can tell because you make arguments about how Orton is much better than Cassel, which is just a justfication for not taking a chance on a first round QB.

You are a homer. So, I have no doubt that once the Chiefs draft a QB, you will talk about how great he will be. Much like you talked up Cassel when going into this season and much like you watched the 'game tape' and know how Orton will be so much better than Cassel.

But, this way, if they don't take a QB... you can rationalize it away.

Unless they secretly have a good QBOTF in Stanzi, there is no reason that they shouldn't draft a QB in the first round THIS year.

I'd say that even if they do secretly have a good QBOTF in Stanzi they should still draft a QB in the first round. Maybe they both flop. Maybe one hits and one doesn't. Maybe they both hit and you're looking at a Brees/Rivers situation.

Just as long as we keep Brees and trade Rivers...

Orton is better than Cassel. You're the only idiot that doesn't see that.

I have said repeatedly that Orton is a good 1-2 year option, but moronic if they keep him longer than that unless he clearly shows that he's a franchise QB. And I've said repeatedly that he won't be a franchise QB. Find me any place where I've said otherwise. In fact, there's a giant thread starter I created talking about why I don't believe he's a franchise QB.

Uhh... no. I hated that Cassel was our QB to begin the season. Beginning of his career with the Chiefs, I was more optimistic and patient than many. Middle of last year, I saw it was clear that he sucked and have not turned back since. I have been very tough on Cassel for the last season and a half. Now, I''m not a blind hater. I am willing to give Cassel credit when he plays a good game and he hasn't been 100% terrible. But for a year and a half, I have clearly said that he has no pocket presence, is a 1-read QB, holds on to the ball too long, is making our o-line worse, and is way too inaccurate on his passes.

No, I won't rationalize it. I've said that the Chiefs need to be aggressive about getting a first round QB next year, period. No matter how Orton does. And I've been the only beating on the drum of "I don't care about Stanzi. He's not a first round pick."

Find me a single post where I've said otherwise.

I'm stubborn as shit. But anybody on this forum, no matter how much they disagree, knows that I own up to stuff when I'm completely wrong. On the stuff you said above, you are making stuff up 100%.
