Air compressor

I'm gonna be starting an auto resto project and need an air compressor. I don't want to spend a ton of money, preferrably less than $300. What brands are good?

And Rigid.

I'd actually go Rigid before Craftsman.

What are your intentions? Just running an air ratchet or do you plan to do a bunch of cutting and grinding?
If your intentions are more the former than a plain ole 120V oil-less compressor will do run your air ratchet and impact wrenches just fine.
If more the later and you do much grinding and/or sanding you’ll get real tired real fast waiting on that oil-less compressor to catch back up. Go ahead, spend the money and get a good 220V oil filled preferably 2 cylinder compressor that’s moving >7-9 CFM @ 90 PSI and you’ll be glad you did.

Yeah, I'll be wanting to be able to do sanding and grinding as well. Thanks for the advice.

This one isn't too far out of your price range.

If you were going to do it professionally you’d wear those electrics out but if you’re just doing a project here and that, like it sounds, electric will handle the job just fine.
