Of course, please be reminded that no one cares about KU Football, so the whole point of this post is moot. The KU Football fan is a non-entity, this person does not exist. If the KU Football Fan existed, then this thread, this post, this moment would have no meaning. Our legacy rival claims a 46.67% winning percentage, and claims domination.

Please...KU is serious about football. We've stumbled, but damned if we're giving up. We're letting the entire Big 12 conference know we're not some doormat. If we wanted to be a doormat, we'd go to the SEC.

* Well, the attitude is completely different. I mean, completely different. We were only allowed in for 20 minutes of practice, and pretty much every one of the media members seemed blown away by the changes. Could have been the start of spring football, I guess, but it was energetic, excited, organized and freaking intense. Excellence was demanded on every single rep, and even veterans were getting chewed out on occasion.

* The most encouraging signs to me from the presser - Weis, who is notoriously tough to please, was basically happy with the way off-season conditioning went. Beyond that, the entire team missed fewer than five classes since he's come on board, and there are penalties for every slip up. He gets reports from teachers on who is nodding off in class, not paying attention, not getting work on time - it sounds like every single detail. And if you do screw up, he said he's not above using "peer pressure" to embarrass the offender - though he didn't go into specifics - and that's before a 6 a.m. Saturday private workout with Holsopple. The impression I got was that those fell a few miles out of the ballpark of "fun."

* This thing kind of hinges on Dayne Crist. Not that everyone didn't know that before, but Weis just glows about the guy. Says the team has accepted him as a leader already even though they've never played a down, and having a QB who knows Weis' system - and knows him personally - will help immeasurably. He's got every practice from now until the Spring Game mapped out, and they'll keep feeding the offense new stuff daily until they can't learn anymore. Then they'll stop. "If all they can handle is six (line) protections, what's the point of putting in a seventh?"

* Tony Pierson is listed as the second string RB but he was running with the ones. Sims with the twos. Bourbon with the threes.

* Feel like the left side of the line is pretty solidly in place. Called Hawkinson the team's best lineman, and he's back at LT. Hawk, Zlat and Gelli are probably set barring something major. My guess is Spencer is set at RT as well, or close to it. But there could be a pretty major battle for the RG spot, between Gavin Howard, Luke Luhrsen and newcomer Aslam Sterling (Who arrives this summer). Interested to see who gets that spot.

That's what stood out to me today.

Good stuff, Bob. I am glad to hear that things are going the way they should. Sounds more and more like Gill had no clue.

There's a reason why Dayne Crist is listing among the top Vegas odds for the Heisman.

This team is going to run show and it's only going to get better.

What a time to be a Jayhawk.

You're going to be seriously disappointed if you really expect Dayne Crist, the same guy who was benched at Notre Dame, to lead you any farther than 9th or 10th in the big 12. Exactly which teams is Kansas going to be able to overmatch on the field?

Oklahoma? Nope
Oklahoma State? Nope
Kansas State? Nope
West Virginia? Nope
TCU? Nope
Texas? Nope
Iowa State? Possibly, but likely not
Texas Tech? See above
Baylor? Lost some talent, still a much more talented team than Kansas.

How exactly is Kansas going to run show when they have jack shit for talent and will never be able to hang with the class of the Big 12 in recruiting (and in coaching), much less better conferences like the SEC and the Big 10. You can't expect to be more than a bottom feeder. Wait, let me rephrase that. Anybody who isn't a dumb **** homer like yourself wouldn't expect Kansas to ever be more than a bottom feeder in the Big 12.

You get out of the cellar one way and one way only. You work at it. There's no magic pill. There's no fairy godmother showing up to put glass slippers on you and send you off to the ball.

There's a job to do. You show up every day. You get the best coaches you can. You get the best players you can. You make a plan. You stick to the plan. And every day you work. You make big goals, and you break those goals down into smaller goals, goals you can enumerate and measure, so you can see see advancement every day.

Homer? Undeniably. But one thing you cannot deny - KU's AD has been a part of getting it done twice. He was on Bill Snyder's coaching staff at K-State when Snyder showed up in Manhattan. He was at USF when they were creating a football program from scratch.

You say it can't be done - I say you're full of shit.

The beautiful thing is, in this conversation, I'm the one who knows what he's talking about.

I've said this before, but you have to admire Braincase for his even-handed optimism.

KU's road to football greatness in the Big 12 is a tough one. Oh well, Coach Radio took you down, let's see if Coach Front Butt can bring you back up.

Does it make you feel good to beat your chest and put a downtrodden program down like this?

KU can get to a better place. Anyone who doesn't think so (you) is a dumb ass.
