Thankfully, Mr. Nolan thinks 3D is pointless as well.

TDK3 has so much pressure to be amazing based on the first two movies whereas the MIB3 just has to have some funny alien jokes, used time travel plots, and a few green juicy explosions and it will be a success in it's own relative terms. |

To me, size is most important (and I think Nolan feels likewise). Bigger is better. And when it's big and 3D, it's ****ing awesome when used right. "Avatar" in true giant-screen IMAX was a sight to behold. "Avengers" is likewise much improved. But, again, I'm talking giant screen, which isn't what most people have access to. I think if someone converted parts of "The Dark Knight Returns" to 3D and showed to Christopher Nolan in a full-sized IMAX, he'd feel differently about it. |

Saw it again yesterday this time in 3D. Awesome. I usually hate 3D but thus one wasn't bad. Last movie I saw in 3D was Wrath of the Titans and it sucked. It was blurry as heck. It looked like standard definition with crap jumping out at you.

It might not ever play in IMAX 2D. Might just depend on where you live.
JD would know for sure, but i think MIB3 and Prometheus are the next movies that have IMAX screens booked. He said Dark Shadows is having to share some IMAX time right now.

Right now it's splitting time with "Dark Shadows". It may or may not do that next week as well (5/18-5/24); I hope so, because "Dark Shadows" by itself will literally mean 2 people per show. "MiB3" opens on 5/25. |

Since I talk about it a lot, I figured I'd post some pics showing what it's all about. These are some pics from our conversion (or, should I say, addition) for Digital. The first pic is the traditional setup, the "before" shot, of the IMAX projector at the window. We had to remove the 1-ton machine from its rail track and put it on a cart and back it up to in between the two reel units. The tiny port window was removed in order to accomodate the two side-by-side Digitals (Imax uses one projector for each eye, unlike regular-sized 3D films which use one projector that alternates frames). An L-shaped track was then laid down so we could pull the film projector out of the way and push the Digitals into place. They also had to cut down our old screen and replace all the speaker clusters and the subbass towers. I'll hunt up more pics.
