He was doing something like running a restaurant in Connecticut for the last whatever number of years. He wasn't in witness protection. It's pretty obvious the old Italian mafia doesn't have 1/1000th the juice that it used to.

Interesting guy. The commentary track on Goodfellas with him and the FBI agent was neat to listen to. One thing they didn't put in the movie was the fact that he was in the army (paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne). Probably picked up a useful skill or two that translated to gangster life during that time.
I'm sure he lived longer than he thought he would. |

A guy like him may have eased your rise up the career ladder by taking out people above you, which you like. But at the same time, you want to send a pretty strong message to the people below you that snitches get stitches. My suspicion is that the second philosophy tends to hold more weight, but nonetheless there is room for a conflict of thought.

Yea, im sure most of his old crew are dead by now or too old to care about him anymore. I wonder how they felt about him becoming this "folk hero" since the movie has become so iconic.

One thing about Hill - I find it very, very difficult to believe he never killed anybody. I realize it's not something he'd own up to or want in a book/movie about his life, but seriously, come on. All those years dealing with Tommy and Jimmy and he always just stood by watching? I call bullshit on that one.
