Magic Mike
Anyone else interested? Its getting pretty good reviews. Im a big Soderbergh fan.
IM starting to think this is going to be a big sleeper hit. Ive had about 5 or 6 of my female FB friends post something to the effect of: "I cant wait to see Magic Mike!" http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/magic_mike/ |

There was a line tonight to get into this movie. I counted ONE guy out of about 100 girls. I have no idea what this movie is but that pretty much told me all I needed to know.

So it looks like this thing is projected to pull around 47 mil this weekend and TED will pull around 50 mil
I don't think anyone thought these would be huge summer hits a few weeks ago?? Chicks dig Tatum and guys dig McFarlane and Kunis.

Saw an hour of "Ted". Laughed, liked it, will finish it.
Saw "Magic Mike" this morning. Not that bad, more drama than chick flick. Maybe five stripper scenes, nothing more than pecs and buns. Decent film, kept me watching. Tatum did a good job acting and a great job dancing. And Olivia Munn has nice titties. |

Just got back from seeing this. I think it is a legitimate three-star film. It's a film about nothing less than what it means to work in America. It's like a warmer/less detached compliment to The Girlfriend Experience.
The dance/strip scenes are mostly played for laughs, excluding the Channing Tatum ones. And those are pretty damn impressive from a acrobatics/physical standpoint. I can't wait for the Blu-ray to leak so that someone can make a .gif for every time that Kevin Nash was on-screen. Dude is so not fluid as a dancer; had me cracking up. |

I was surprised by how well Tatum moves. Gotta hand it to the guy (who IIRC is now in his early 30s), if his acting doesn't pan out he can still get a stripper gig. |

Yes, the "still" was "again". He was a stripper for a few months when he was in his 20s, which is how this film got made. Apparently while on set with Soderbergh (must've been "Haywire") they were shooting the shit and Tatum mentioned he'd been a stripper, and Soderbergh said something like, "Wow, we gotta make a movie about that," and Tatum said, "****, why?" And Soderbergh said, "Because I've never seen that world on film before."
There are two main characters in "Magic Mike": Tatum as the 30-year-old stripper, and Alex Pettyfer as a young guy who has dropped out of college from his football scholarship and is living on his sister's couch. Apparently both characters are based off Tatum (who, in addition to stripping, was indeed in college on a football scholarship and was living on his sister's couch for a while). |

I went to Ted yesterday and, upon exiting the theater, saw a line of women waiting to see Magic Mike. There were 2 men and probably 50 of the most homely looking broads I've seen in some time. The kind of trolls that only leave their houses to go to work and McDonald's. I hope, for their sake, that there was lots of male nakedness cuz these chicks will be flicking their bean to those images for MANY months to come. Sad stuff...
