Johnson is scheduled to earn close to $130 million over the next eight seasons, including $113.5 million over the final seven years of the deal, league sources told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.

The contract includes $4.5 million in an existing roster bonus that's due on the final year of his rookie deal.

The deal also includes $53 million in guaranteed money, with Johnson's $1.25 million base salary in 2012 guaranteed, and $36 million due in signing and option bonuses. According to La Canfora, $11.5 million in future salary is guaranteed for injury only.

lavar arrington is no longer in the nfl due to injuries, nothing to do with his play. he WAS a bit of a freelancer, but not to the point that he was run out of the league.

And right now his legacy in KC is a shitty w/l record with a bunch of promising young players obtained through a rebuilding process that Herm and Peterson did the dirty work for.

Bailey, Hudson, and Baldwin have done jack shit. By what measurable standard can you say they are anything other than "yet to be determined". Same can be said for Boss, Winston, and Hillis regarding their time in KC. Moeaki and Houston are small sample size to be spoken of in the same breath as guys like Charles, Bowe, and Hali. Belcher, Arenas, and Jackson are middle of the road players who may not see a 2nd contract from KC.

I guess we can argue over what constitutes "talent" in the context of the conversation. To me, outside of Berry and perhaps Breaston, the stars of this team were already in place. Everyone else you listed is a combination of JAGs and maybes.

Except that Arrington was Pro Bowl/All Pro his first three years in the league. It took DJ seven years. So actually they are not the same. One had success out of the gate and the other is finally reaching potential on the backend of his career. Their "on their way out of the league stories" are not the same at all based on their talent level of play.

DJ even admitted later that he hadn't been very focused and had some off field issues effecting him. He was looking like a bust.

Most of the inherited guys hadn't done shit, either, when Pioli took over.

What's your point?

Dorsey, Albert and Bowe were massively overweight...that's a clear sign of laziness.

DJ was a borderline starter.

Hali was topped out as an average pass rusher that was a rag doll in run support.

The corners were talented, but needed coaching to get where they are today.

Charles flashed elite talent late 2008 as a rookie, but he was injury prone, small and fumbled a lot.

Some of you have very select memories about how poor that 2008 team was.

IMO the only guys that were directed stars when Pioli took over were

Bowe
Flowers

Everyone else needed a major overhaul to get where they are now.
