Do you run Studebaker with the 1's on Friday?

RAC has said that Studebaker is getting the first shot at replacing Hali for game 1. So do you split time witht he 1's between Hali and Studebaker? Play just Hali or what? How would you handle it if you were RAC?

I think it'd be best to split the time.

Or perhaps if Siler is healthy move DJ outside? As a Game 1 solution...

I think Studebaker is underrated on this team. He's a guy with physical tools who has shown an ability to be in the right place at the right time. Give him the playing time and unleash him in Week 1.

Their MAIN job isnt to pressure the quarterbacks, but lets not act as if getting no pass rush at all is OK.

Both players need to step up their ability to at least push the pocket and make the qbs jobs harder and to finish a play here and there with a sack.
i understand this and if you get an Elite type guy they can do it.

Problem is that 99% of guys aren't elite

Btw i think Seymour freelances occasionally to get his sack. He anticipates pass situations and doesn't do what he supposed to. Tjax isn't experienced enough or secure enough in his position to tell the coaches 'hey, i took a shot'

Studebaker is poor at rushing the passer and that's really what we need to do against Matt Ryan and their heavy-passing offense. I personnally hope Poe has a great game and collapses the pocket regularly, that could go a long way in stopping the Falcons passing game, especially now that Hali is out. That being said, I'm not sure if it's realistic to think Poe can have a great game.

I'd split time with the #1's between Sheffield, Studebacker, and Long. Why not? We are talking about one game here, so I'd want to see a bit of all of them.

I thought Poe looked good against the run the other night. He was in on the play where DJ tackled Jackson for a loss on third down. Toribio hardly played against St. louis. It was mostly Pitulua (?) or whatever his name is and he was terrible. I think the run defense will be fine.

Studebaker needs to start against Atlanta imo. The guy is one of our most underrated players. He's as solid as they come. He's not a pass rushing specialist like Hali, Houston, or Sheffield but, we don't need him to be. Clabo, Atlanta's RT, is better than their left tackle. Houston will do better against Baker on the right side.

Studebaker's a good dude and a great story.

"As solid as they come", however, he ain't. He's out of position with fair frequency and doesn't have the mass to fight off blockers. If Stude's out there a lot and I'm the Falcons, I absolutely attack him with the running game. He just doesn't have the mass to hold the point of attack.

There's no good answer to the problem; losing Hali just flat sucks. Studebaker may end up the best option we have, but he most assuredly isn't someone that's going to be an asset out there. He'll be a liability for most of the game.

The bottom line is that we're going to have to protect the hell out of whoever we put out there. And ultimately I really think we should be flipping Houston over to Hali's spot if for no other reason than the fact that it gets the better athlete and harder hitter over to the spot that Lewis/his replacement will be. Berry will be needed to protect Stude/Sheffield.

As to the question posed - I'd hardly give Hali any more pre-season reps at all. He doesn't need him and the defense needs to figure out how its going to deal with Week 1.

KC is paper thin at LB.

The Rams put on a nice demo on how to attack Belcher in the passing game.
