Pioli’s limbo status is keeping him from playing musical chairs
Nice.

Smart if thats the case.
Pioli will always have a job somewhere as long as Daddy Tuna and Bellichek are around.

Obv, Clark is trying to get him to resign so he won't owe him the last $5M he is due this year. And Pioli won't. He'll just go thru a worthless year not doing anything before he gives up that kinda coin.

Pioli will sit out the year or land somewhere in a lesser than GM role. Chief lawyers just working out the financial details right now.

Hunt forcing Pioli to weigh being a free agent immediately vrs waiting and getting more money on a buyout.
If Pioli's plan is to just go back to new england then Hunt's game won't work. If Pioli wants to look for a new job with one of the many teams cleaning house then he might give in and take lesser money.

So are we to believe that Clark's conversation with Peyton Manning was the last straw? If so, we can assume that Clark had made up his mind to bring Pioli back before that? That's troubling to me.

One of the cool things about the way Clark is managing this deal is that disposing of Dr. Evil and his slime trail has become some sort of "process".

I have hated that Cassel was the Chiefs' starting QB since day one, but never hated the man. Who turns down $60M and a NFL starting job because they know they're not good enough? He's a quality person who worked hard, just didn't have the skills. Cassel hate fell/falls squarely on Pioli's shoulders from start to finish.
