Vermeil told Reid to come to KC.
Thanks, Dick.

Grandpa Dick gave us some wonderful memories when it came to offense and oh were they so great. With that said, I can say two words to sum up his defense... Greg Robinson. OMG we were pathetic on defense!!!

Whichever coach wins a SB for the chiefs will be my favorite.

This article fails to mention the moment in which Dick became emotional and began crying.

One thing that DV understands which the Pioli/Patriots Way doesn't, is he understands Kansas City, and the folks that live here. So does Andy Reid from his time at Mizzou. We're not snobbish east coast assholes. You can hold doors open for people and say please and thank you and people don't look at you like you're nuts. DV is a down to earth sincere person, you can't fault him for that and really the world needs more people like that. If a player knows that a coach cares about him, he will lay his body out on the line for that coach and he will play his ass off. That's what our offensive guys did for DV, and at the same time he demanded perfection.

It won't happen with Cassel though, because he sucks specifically at throwing the football... an important aspect of playing QB. |

It's a shame Vermeil wasn't the consultant on our first go-around.
Even in the background, he's got the story perfect. I love how he acknowledged that Arrowhead is a force... but only when the stadium is full. Love how he made it pretty clear (even if he corrected himself midway through) that the QB is a problem. Love that he was direct in saying that Reid's defense has struggled because he hasn't made good Defensive Coordinator hires. Wipe out Pioli's ridiculous media blackout. Get a new QB. Don't let Reid hire the DC. Sounds like a good formula right there. |

But I think his comments made clear that he thinks our QBs suck, and then he backtracked so he didn't throw our QBs under the bus. Don't think anyone can read that and think he's in any way endorsing Cassel or Quinn. But I get what he's saying. Think he's saying you have to make sure you fit in with the owner, because that's for life. Once you fit in with the owner, that owner can help you get your QB. |

DV tends to see things that aren't there in players. Sometimes, like with Dante Hall, he sees something that was there. |
