Rental car companies should offer a wider range of vehicles, and then you get randomly assigned. One time you might get a Ford Fusion, and the next time you might get a large farm combine. It sometimes worked out that way when I worked at Enterprise. Customers would make reservations and come in, and we'd have no cars. So, we'd type up their contract and tell them to have a seat, that the car was being washed.
Then we'd stand there and pray that a car was returned in the next 5 minutes. Sometimes it could be an F-150, other times a Neon. Sometimes you'd have to say, "Can you drive a cargo van, Miss Johnson?" And she'd say, "What's a cargo van?"
