Would you trade the no. 1 pick for Cam Newton?
We ran into this topic late Saturday night in another thread.

I personally don't like Cam at all. He's got a ton of talent, but is an absolute idiot. He can't even learn a full playbook. Newton has put up some big numbers, but they haven't translated into a lot of wins.

He is 13-19 as a starter over 2 years.

58.9% comp | 7,920 yards pass | 40 passing TDs | 29 INTS | 1,447 rush yards | 22 rushing TDs |

Would you give up our no. 1 pick for Cam Newton?

Idiots it's the NFL not Madden, just because Cam has a few "99" ratings doesn't mean he is going to rule the league. Plus look at what happened to RGIII when his team needed him in the playoffs. Running QBs can not be counted on week to week. He lost to the Romeo-led 2012 Chiefs, Belcher incident or not, that should be enough for everyone to say no.

I wouldn't go that far. I'd take RGIII over Newton. Griffin is a better passer and a faster runner than Newton... he's just not built like a LB.

Newton is more like vince young than anyone is ready to admit yet, but it's the same story. He's a headcase who won games at the college level with athleticism, but the NFL exposed the fact that he doesn't really know how to play the QB position.

What is all this talk about him being a headcase about? Do you actually form your own opinion or do you just parrot anything the just-looking-for-a-story media tries to pass?

I understand a lot of people dislike him for the whole Auburn controversy, but Jesus I would trade our first for him in a heartbeat, and honestly you're a fool to think otherwise—the Panthers wouldn't accept that trade for a reason.

I would guess it's mainly because of the press conference he had where he threw everyone under the bus except himself. He's young, but I'd agree winning QBs don't do that. He took a lot of heat for those suggestion box comments from coaches, QBs, etc. You gotta keep that stuff in house.

Cam Newton does a Superman thing when he scores all those touchdowns, so he's a headcase. No way would I want a guy who was constantly doing touchdown celebrations on my team.
