Thing with teh Cassel comps is at this point, yeah they're pretty far off. But if you had asked me after the 2010 campaign vs Smiths 2011, it might be different. Yes, Smith did what he did against the Saints.
But when people keep saying that, I always come back to, do I think he could do that again and take away the defense, OL they have etc, what does he become? |

Like I said...I'm not advocating the trade for Alex INSTEAD of drafting Geno...just giving you my opinion of the players it's rumored the Chiefs have aquired.

He's a much faster version of Matt Cassel who can dink and dunk with high efficiency. That'll get you 10-6, baby!

Is he a guy who can put it on his back and win it all? No. Can he be a championship QB on a team with Talent? Yes. If Williams doesn't fumble in the NFCCG I seriously think they'd have beaten NE in the SB. |

Can't win it all with a loaded 9er team, but is going to carry a 2-14 Chief team to the promised land? Because that's what we want, a guy that CAN carry the team not Slappy McSlap**** it up against the elites.

...nobody seemed to think the 49ers were "Loaded" until Jim Harbaugh arrived. I remember the National Media saying they couldn't understand why Harbaugh would choose SF and had him in 95% in Miami (sound familiar?). Again...I'm not trying to sell any of you...just trying to tell you who he is. BTW, what he HAS been is willing to mentor a young kid and be a model teammate in the process. Perhaps trading for Alex doesn't preclude a Geno Smith Pick. If he falls...maybe move up from that second round pick back into the first for him? The Browns did that a few years ago for Brady Quinn (maybe bad example). |

In a normal situation I would appreciate your review on Alex Smith. Thing is, the Chiefs QB situation is anything but normal. It's as personal as something in sports gets for me. Most of this fan base has no clue. CP has to make up for that, and we do, sometimes to a fault. I honestly didn't read your review on Alex Smith, and it's nothing personal. I just don't want the kid. I am not interested in having to build a roster to protect a QB. The QB should be the one helping us cover issues. I have no idea what Geno will actually be. I happen to see a ceiling higher than most of the experts do. The truth though, I don't really care about his floor. I am not interested in taking the safe QB, give me the risk. Give me the guy who posses a potential(no matter the risk) over a guy who to me has shown he will never be "that" guy. Do you think Alex Smith can win a SB without a fantastic roster around him? I don't. We have seen this story play out over and over again. |

You say he could be a champ QB on a team with talent, which has some truth in it, but he couldn't get the MOST talented team in the NFL to the SB. As much as we hate to say it, the Chiefs are not in the same ballpark at this point talent wise as the 9ers. |
