No, I get what you're saying but in practical terms, it's nonsense.

Teams don't "luck" into a Super Bowl. There are 20 games played before the post season even starts. There are a myriad of things that can go bad, from losing star players to losing multiple star players to head coaches and assistant coaching being fired, to bad weather and so on.

I'm betting you can ask any player on any Super Bowl winning team if they thought they were "lucky" to a Super Bowl, 100% would say "No.".

Trying to compare a "service" oriented business, in which there are many options (let's use cellular service, for example) to an entity like the NFL is ludicrous.

Now, if you want to compare the NHL to the NFL or MLB to the NFL or the NBA to the NFL, maybe you might have a valid comparison but even then, the NFL reigns supreme.

It's ingrained in our culture, regardless of whether or not you live in an NFL city.

It's not that different, no. But the "way [he] wants" is only the way [he] wants because its by far the most likely way, both historically and projected into the future of the game, to win a championship. SNR and like-minded folk don't want to win a championship any one specific way out of preference or style...they want that way because its proven to be the best way to achieve winning a championship. That's it.

ChiefsPlanet always overestimates the value of draft picks. It is just what this board does. The top 15 picks are ALWAYS littered with all-pros. Each and every year (other than 2009 lololol)...

after that...the draft really becomes a crapshoot.

You're right and I tried to make this exact point by listing the 2nd round draft picks over the years, which include Eddie Freeman, Junior Siavii, Kris Wilson, Dexter McCluster, Javier Arenas, Rodney Hudson, etc.

If my options are Alex Smith or Eddie Freeman, guess which player is chosen with my second round pick?

this is how you get to a superbowl. First and foremost you need a hall of fame worthy qb. If you dont get that, chances are its not going to happen, just go back like 30 years and every SB winning qb outside of 3 are in or going to the hall of fame.

You dont have that, then, well, its not gonna happen.

well you're also the guy who told me the Willie Roaf for a 4th round pick was a terrible trade because we didn't win anything with Roaf so...I guess I just don't know what your stance on draft picks is.
