Smith is not an unproven POS like Cassel.

Hell I think a big reason Reid wanted this guy is because in 2011 Alex Smith threw 2 TD's in the 2nd half AND engineered a 70+ yard drive to win after being down 20-3 at halftime on the ****ing road.

This isn't some unproven POS Cassel we're talking about. Smith has shown he can get the job done.

He is worth a chance because he has proven key tools to work with, unlike Cassel, Grbac, DeBerg and Bono.

If he doesn't work out, fine blast him, but he deserves a chance with a coach who is doing something completely different than what Harbaugh did by game managing him.
Problem with that is he garnered his most success when he was made a game manager. He won't be that here, he's going to throw it a bunch.

And the fact that we have like 2 games everyone uses to show how great he was is questionable in that those could be what he is or they could be outliers.

Alex Smith looked better under Harbaugh than he did at any other time in his career. The 49ers had tons of talent and looked like crap until Harbaugh got there.

Our talent level is less than the 49ers

so unless you think Reid a superior coach to Harbaugh, why would you think Smith would look better for us than in San Fran?

How can we even discuss putting the "clutch" label on a player that has had a bottom 10 ranking on third down completions.... every year he has been in the league?

Clutch quarterbacks convert a lot of first downs.

Game managers are perfectly fine with picking up 5 yards on 3rd and 7...franchise quarterbacks show why they exactly that, on third downs.

Obviously Reid sees something in smith. I'll trust him and let that play out, but with making that move I don't think they'll get the leash in KC they probably should, just because of how shitty the last regime was on the field and off and the moves they made.

And what about when that talent got exposed against the Saints? The 49ers defense was raped all game long, Gore didn't even rush for 100 yards and Vernon Davis was the only receiver to do any real damage against them that day.

The leash is off if they average eight wins a year.

Because Andy Reid is infallible. He would not make a move that would not work out well for the Chiefs. Trust in him. He knows all.

It's the quickest route to 8 wins and kc hero worship.

You don't think that the saints game being the only game smith did that in is an anomaly but the norm?
