I'm projecting Alex Smith's chances of being the franchise guy this team has desperately needed since forever.

The odds of that happening are not in our favor. I think most Chiefs fans would agree about that when it comes to Alex Smith.

I think he's nothing more than a 2 year stop gap.

If by "Chiefs fans", you mean a very vocal minority on Chiefsplanet? Then yes.

If by "Chiefs fans" you're referring to the people of Kansas City and the fans that fill their stadium? I'd say you're dead wrong.

I really hope so. And that's why I really wanted Geno Smith THIS year. Because we were in a position to get him.

It's getting pretty stupid to say, "Just wait to draft a QB next year when the class is better." In general, people who have said that throughout the Pioli years have been extremely disappointed because the class actually ISN'T better. But when it IS good, we're not a terrible enough team to pick the top guys.

So that's why my mantra has been "Geno Smith in one hand is worth two in the bush."

Oh well. Maybe Luke Joeckel will be Willie Roaf.

I'd like to see them draft someone as well, I just don't know who they're targeting. I had heard back in February that Zac Dysert was very intriguing to them, but I have no idea if they're still interested.

If they're going to trade Albert, I'd sure love to see Nassib or Barkley or Bray with whatever they get in return. But I don't have any idea of what they think of any of those guys, or if they'll even be available when they pick.

Willie Roaf. The guy 3 years older than Albert that we got for a 4th/conditional 3rd, who played at a pro bowl level for 4 years.

That's the kind of move that a franchise that wants to 'win now' makes. They don't trade away their starting LT and plug in an run-of-the-mill rookie to save some bucks.

We make no sense.

They said they want to build now and the future.

Joeckel is good now and for another 10+ years. What's not to get about that?

Drafting Joeckel at this point is like refinancing your home when you have five years to pay it off, going to a ten year loan b/c your monthly payments will be less. Even that assumes that Joeckel will be as good as Albert.
