How many LT have been drafted 1.1 to go on and win a Super Bowl with that team that drafted them?

Okay so Who would have been a better pick?? Fisher was the Stud of the draft and will continue to get better. He will bring a nasty attitude that this team needs. Maybe you guys havn't seen how the Faders D line has destroyed us the last 6 games. If you can't beat your arch rivals at home- in a home opener- you are not going to have a chance at Anything.

Why is what Reid and Dorsey have done so far any better or different than what Pioli did?
1)Trade top of the second round pick (34th overall) for a rejected serviceable back up QB from another team. Check! 2) Use high first round pick (1st or 3rd overall) on a big "safe pick" lineman. Check. Do we really think that Smith is any better than Cassel? The numbers are about the same last time I checked. Both GMs traded the 34th overall for them. Is replacing a young experienced Top 5 OT with your 1.1 pick any better of a move than picking Tyson Jackson #3 overall? Sorry, I just don't see that there has been ANY change, just the names. |

2. Fisher was the Best player available in the entire draft according to many. 3. T Jack was a projected 12- 24 pick that was reached for because pioli heard rumors New england wanted him- so he tried to steal him from them and got an average at best player that should Never have been picked that high to start with. 4. We have a proven coach and changed our entire coaching staff to the Best available. We are a playoff caliber team now- Not the Joke team that had banners flying overhead. We are in for a great year!! Go Chiefs!! |

I can't melt down over the pick. I just can't get there.
Eric Fisher is going to be a really really good player, IMO. At least we will get an actual significant upgrade on Albert, IMO. Joeckel wouldn't have been; he's a 'safe' player that will be a good starter for a decade, but not much more than that. With Fisher we did the right thing and went for the potentially dominant player. And if you go by a "Madden ratings" approach, he probably is the best player in this draft. So from that standpoint, Dorsey isn't a liar - he went pure BPA. Beyond that, every single team saw something in Geno Smith that scared them off him. And these teams have viewed more film than me and have put more eyes on him than I have. Their livelihoods depend on them being right here. I think it's safe to say that Geno isn't the prospect I think he is, though I still see so much I like in him that I think he'll be a good QB. Which brings me to my true meltdown: #34 FOR ALEX !@#$ING SMITH!?!?!?! Folks, we could've given that pick and a 4th to move up to Baltimore's spot and select Geno. That's it. And we could've then still turned around and traded Albert for a 2nd if we wanted to. We could've had an upgrade at LT, a good young QB prospect and a 2nd round pick in our pocket. And as I said when the Smith deal was made - I don't even hate Alex. But jesus tits, a 2nd ****ing rounder for him? #34 overall? A third is as high as we should've gone and I see nobody out there that would've topped us on that, especially given that we had the #1 overall pick in the round. And at that point everybody's happy. And I guess if Geno slips to the 3rd or even to Miami's pick and we deal Albert to get him, it could still happen. But I have absolutely no confidence in that happening at all - Geno's a Jaguar. So no. This isn't a true meltdown. Eric Fisher, unlike Tyson Jackson, is going to be a good and very possibly great player in this league. But shit...why why why why why did we have to give the #34 overall pick for Average Smith?

I have come to terms with the nature of this draft class, and now just hope that Fischer lives up to the pick. A big mean offensive line and a serviceable QB seemed to put a pretty good offense on the field when we had Trent Green and Vermeil. I don't think A. Smith is as good as Trent Green, but maybe Andy Reid can make him look good. He made Kevin Kolb look good for a while.
The one thing that haunts the back of my thoughts is that the only thing ***** would have done differently this offseason is draft Joekel instead of Fischer. |

Not in today's league. The 2012 Ravens' O-line was ranked 17th by PFF. The 2011 Giants' O-line was ranked 31st. The 2010 Packers' O-line was ranked 12th.
Seems to me championships start with an elite (or close to it) franchise quarterback, which all three teams had.

We should give out rep for the lack of a meltdown....
Of course, there were a bunch of people who said they would kill themselves if the Chiefs selected an offensive lineman with the first pick instead of a QB or trading down. If they followed through with those threats, then that might account for a lack of an overall meltdown.... Either way, props to Austin Chief for keeping the board running smoothly through all this. |

Did a defensive player even touch Flacco's jersey last year? That was some of the Best O line play ever- they dominated some Great teams on the road- That is why they won it all. Same with Giants- Eli had all kinds of time- same with the packers they won it without a running game. Alex needs the time and with a dominate running game he will pick defenses apart. Lots of folks on here will be eating Crow this year bitching about Alex- he is going to look like a steal for what we paid. |

Is this just homer talk? We all want this team to be good, but I just don't see how getting Alex Smith is going make us any better to become a Super Bowl contending team and that is the goal isn't it? This team with Alex Smith is nothing to get excited about. I want to be excited this hurts me to know this is not going to work out so well.
