Alex Smith will be the backup, one of the others will be the starter after he fails during the first part of the season.

Daniels has NFL experience, while Bray is considered an athletic project. It's kind of obvious Chase will be the backup this season and likely next year.

The way Daniels contract is structured, he'll be here a minimum of two seasons. it's a 3 year $10 million contract with a $3 million bonus. Base salaries are $800K, $2.4 million, and $3.8 million. $4.8 million guaranteed (signing bonus + 2013 base + $1M of 2014 base). It would cost the Chiefs $600K to cut Daniels after year 1 and have a $2.8 million savings after year 2. Deal can void after any season in which he passes for 2,000 yards and 12 touchdowns, which isn't likely.

We didn't pay Chase to be inactive Sundays. Unless he completely sucks, he's it.
I would be shocked if Bray makes the team at this point... |

They poached him from the Dolphins by offering him more money and he's competing against Stanzi and Tanney. |

He's still an UDFA. It's not like he's a first round pick. What if Stanzi outplays him? He's already sat for two years learning the NFL game. I don't know if that's completely unrealistic.

All Stanzi has learned is that he's not going to be in the league much longer and needs to start saving up his money by avoiding the barber. |

Bray =/= Stanzi
Now I do feel like he is probably a better prospect than Stanzi, but reality is, he isnt going to dress for gameday unless there is an injury. So in essence, he MAY be the backup QB by the end of the season by default. |

I don't know what this is supposed to mean. I thought Cassel outplayed Stanzi in the preseason... I've never been one of the Stanzi nuts. I think that was clear. But I think he has talent though, I never wanted to give up on him.
That said, Bray once went 5-30 passing in a spring game. There's absolutely the possibility Stanzi outplays him in the preseason. |
