And you can't count on any of them. You never know which Collins\Herrera\Crow\Holland is going to show up.

I'll cut Holland a slight amount of slack today since he was being squeezed a bit and the 3 hits he gave up were not smashes and Getz really had a chance to get us the win and ****ed that up.

But, you can't give up 3 straight hits with 0 outs in the top of the 9th of a 1 run game.

Why isn't anyone complaining about a lack of offense that fails to help its starting pitcher?.........yet again. Team sport

They get a pass for today since they were against Sale, however, they will have no excuse if they do not start producing in Baltimore.

3 games blown in April
the comeback against Tampa the Pen was handed a 3 run lead and they gave up 2
yesterday they were handed a 2 run lead and gave that up
today they were handed a 1 run lead needing only 3 outs and they gave that up

That's not a good bullpen.

This has to improve or we will be the same ole' Royals sooner than you think.

After yesterday the Pen needed to send a message today and failed horrifically.
Bottom line is you're completely wrong about the bullpen, pete. Because you're not looking at it in context, compared to the rest of the league.

The Royals bullpen ranks:

3rd in K:9 (10.35 - Boston leads with 10.68)
1st in K: BB (3.42 K:BB)
11th in ERA (3.03)
6th in BA against (.220)
3rd in WHIP (1.15 - 0.05 behind Boston)
8th in BB:9 (3.03)

There are only 7 teams who have blown fewer saves than the Royals as a bullpen. 11 have blown as many. 12 have blown more.

The Royals bullpen is still one of the best units in the league, and there are a lot of teams out there that would KILL to have the Royals' pen. At least 20/30 teams. And probably more.

do what?

Ok, we were going against Sale....enough said for that.

Our offense bailed us out twice yesterday
our offense bailed us out the night before
our offense bailed us out the game before that

We have 11 come from behind victories in 17 wins this year. Yea, we aren't smashing the ball but our offense has come through when it needed too.

Our pen on the other hand has now blown 4 very winnable games and it's only the 1st week of May

Sorry

11th in ERA
6th in BA against
and
8th in BB

is not a good Pen, imo

that means they are giving up runs, getting hit and giving free passes way too much

Haven't been 8 games over 500 since Sept 2003 and today could've and should've been.

Pete. For a bullpen whose four core members have service time as follows: Aaron Crow (2.00), Collins (2.00), Herrera (1.01), and Holland (2.03). I would bet that nearly anyone would trade bullpens with us given the level of player control we have on our key pieces.

Not sure if serious?

11/30 in ERA is well above average and very good. That's top 1/3 of the league.

6/30 in BA against is elite. This bullpen is MUCH harder to hit than most bullpens in baseball.

8/30 in walks is very good to near elite, especially when paired with the crazily high K rates (why the K:BB rate is so good).

This bullpen is easily a top 10 bullpen and likely top 7-8.

I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep over this game. If Shields had been left in and gotten rocked, there would have been people complaining that Ned didn't bring in the closer.

No team is going to win all of these close games. The Royals have a good chance to win more than most with their bullpen, but these kinds of games happen to every team.

Perhaps. But when the Pen is supposed to be one of your strengths then we aren't getting it done.

Sorry, after yesterday and then again today I am just not high on our Pen.
