Nope. He's not "a bit" off his season last year, he's WAY below it. He's a woeful 109th out of 158 qualifiers in slugging %. Last year? 20th of 143: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...=0&sort=16%2cd So no, he's not even close to last year's totals. As for the comment about lack of protection, Bill James has already debunked this myth. Even if it was true, it doesn't apply to BIlly as he didn't have any better protection last year anyway. |

Well, in the case of Billy, yes, his power has been down. But the season isn't quite half over yet. Let's see what he does in the second half. His walks are way up too, because teams have been pitching around him.

I think Billy has been more selective at the plate. And after he made the All Star team last year, the AL has pitched to him with more care. Also, since all the guys that got plugged in after him during Ned's lineup juggling -Frenchy, Salvy, Moose, Hos, whoever, they've pitched around him a lot because our number five guy had been a big question mark for most of the first half. Now that Salvy has been left usually at #5, that should help Billy see more hittable pitches. Hosmer's starting to hit in the #3 hole, and that will help too.
I just think that our offense should be better in the second half. I sure hope it will be, because I doubt our pitching will be able to be as good as the dog days wear on. |

I need to quit going to games this season.
I was in Minn. last Sat to see Davis wet the bed, and was there today to see Dozer do the same. |

Can't quite put my finger on it....
But I've never really cared for Billy. I honestly would not miss him if he was gone. Posted via Mobile Device |

What would we really be missing? This isn't a playoff caliber team with or without him.

Exactly. Voice of reason. If and when we make the playoffs, Billay will be long gone. Royals had to sign him to a contract or fans would have burned down the stadium. They were so sick and tired of seeing our players going to the Yankees or any other legitimate team. Just sucks that the player they decided to "send a message to the fans" is an unathletic DH.
