Z was acting as any concerned citizen would who lived in a neighborhood that had recently had multiple homes robbed. He saw a suspicious person in the rain sneaking between houses and looking inside them. He did what Neighborhood watch members are instructed by law enforcement to do in such a case.

Well I think the best advice is to not go out looking for criminals at night.

Another good bit of advice is to not walk around in the dark and act like a confrontational asswipe when someone confronts you.

Maybe he could have said "hey, I'm staying at 123 HappyFun Rd with my parents."

But not following the advice hardly makes either one of them criminals.

Stupid + stupid = very bad results.

I agree. And I'm not calling Zimmerman a criminal. Just saying the people that seemingly are suggesting he did everything right, are wrong.

The 911 Operator is going to advise you to do nothing every ****ing time in any situation. Person hanging from the cliff? They'll advise you not to help them. Why? Because if they tell you to help them....they'll be held liable if something happens.

Also, the dispatcher never actually told Z not to follow Martin, just that "we don't need you to do that". This was in reference to the cops coming to find Martin.

He also makes it clear that he is going to keep looking for Martin and the dispatcher says nothing about it.

And the voluntary position doesn't require you to be armed. As neighborhood watch, you look for suspicious activity, and notify authorities, you don't intercede, because they don't want a situation like this. It could've easily been avoided.
