Kind of surprised NFL Network doesn't have a Watch NFL option like ESPN does.

I mean a NFL Network watch online option not a Sunday ticket option. I would love to be able to see the Thursday night games but no way am I upgrading cable that high.

Hell they created the NFL network in 2003 and it was always on the 'extra' tier that you have to manually add to cable. That's not where you make money in cable TV. So in 2006 they wised up and added 8 games exclusive to the NFL network(which ironically started with the Chiefs beating the Broncos on Thanksgiving). As of 2012 it's now 13 exclusive games... By putting exclusive games on NFL network more people signed up for it. When they hit enough subscribers they got the leverage to push for the NFL network to be added to the basic Cable TV tier like ESPN etc. That's where the real money is because then your mom, you sister and your grandmother all pay for NFL network even if they never watch a game. If they were to offer the games online, it would reduce the subscriber count and decrease the power they have to get the NFL network on the basic cable tier which is where you make the real money. Because everyone pays for those channels whether you watch them or not... This is why the stories you read about cable/satellite company Y dropping say CBS/NBC/ABC/etc is often just bullshit. Sometimes it's because they can't negotiate the retransmission rates but other times it's because say CBS want the cable company to add their new channel say 'The Masturbation Network' to the cable company's basic tier and if the cable company refuses they don't get to broadcast CBS.

Remember internet watching won't get counted as viewers from the cable companies point of view. It doesn't go through the cable companies system, it just uses login credentials to verify you already are a subscriber(which of course opens it to fraud like people sharing login information).

Can anyone explain how a slingbox would work in this situation? Like if my best buddy had Sunday Ticket and wanted to be able to watch those games when he came over to my house?

I just called by DTV and signed up for some promotional HBO/Showtime/Cinemax. Asked about Sunday Ticket and she transferred me. Next guy said let me transfer you. Last lady was nice but after putting me on hold said she couldn't do anything about a discounted price. I explained that I wasn't happy in May when I had to pay $180 to move the service only a year after I had joined but I did because I have enjoyed the service. She still said there was nothing they could offer me other than full price Sunday Ticket.
