Offense will only get better as the players continue to learn Reid's offense

Not really. I'm a huge hater, of the Alexis Smyth acquisition anyway. Myself and others have said all along, "Smyth can get us into the playoffs, and we may win a game, but we'll never win a Superbowl with him".

I think that's still accurate and today only further reenforced that belief.

I don't remember any Sutton haters? I know several wanted someone else, but I thought most were cautiously optimistic. If there were some, they didn't seem very vocal.

I just cannot get excited about our quarterback. I'm trying to like him.

Maybe you Alex Smith lovers like to go on his mustache for a ride?

I'm not a fan of Alex Smith throwing the ball out in the flats to JC he is liable to get him killed. JC is going get drilled doing that.
The good news for the offense was in the first half with short fields to navigate, we ended up with touchdowns instead of field goals. Very impressive.

Yes, we stalled way too many times around the 40-45 yard line of the Jags in the 2nd half, but we had room on the score board to do that.

And, I hate to agree with Clay's summer assessment of Smith, but we could have use another down field pass or two, like the first play of the game, to soften up the defense for the run, and underneath pass routes.

Other than that... great start to the new regime!

This was a very mediocre game considering the opponent and the fact we scored 0 second half offensive points. Pretty unimpressive against a historically bad jags team. They do that vs Dallas and Ill admit they are on the rise.

Sure, it was only the Jags, but the style of defense we played is what has me excited. For the first time in years we are using our talent on that side of the ball as it should be used. Poe looks like a BEAST. Sure it was just one game, but damn, it was the best we have looked on that side of the ball in years. Consider me impressed and excited.

All this. What bothers me is that if we are going be a "passing attack offense" Then damn well be a passing attack offense and chuck the ball down field now and then. 3 yard and 5 yard passing is no different than handing the ball off to the running back. Alex Smith is going have a high % connection rate but very low ypa. Yards per attempt are what really matter in that big chunks in the air can really get this offense down field and score points. Our short dinks are costing us when we don't get first downs and pretty much become dead in the water.

I'm right the **** here.

So, the Chiefs did not shit the bed and played exactly to my specifications; a curb-stomping.

It's a start.

So here's the deal:

We must beat Dallas, if only by two points. I am feeling generous this week because I hate those pinchay Cowgirls almost as much as I hate Denver.

Those are the terms. Meet them, and the hate shall cease for another week.

People have to catch the ball too.

FASANO. That first play of the game was well set up, and well thrown. That bozo dropped it.....

I enjoyed the game as much as anybody, but I am also steeped in reality. It was the Jags, and the Defense gave the offense a short field for each score.

The defense looked awesome against a shit team, and the offense got the ball in the end zone when they were supposed to against the team we stole the number one overall pick from last year.

I like the improvements, and will enjoy watching this team, but I am not too much more excited about Alex Smith than the day they traded for him. Is he an improvement? Hell yes, a huge improvement over the worst I recall ever seeing, but he is no Kolin Kaepernick, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers etc.

Geno won today, as a rookie.
