Harold Camping predicts Christ will return on May 21, 2011.

Judgment Day is just a few days away. Christ will return on May 21, 2011, according to Harold Camping, founder of We Can Know radio.

Camping has been spreading the word about the final days via his Christian Network (that consists of a radio station and companion website), www.wecanknow.com.

We Can Know is the organization behind a series of biblical billboards that bear the date of the Rapture. The organization’s philosophy is that, “We can know something about how God will behave in the future by looking at how He has behaved in the past (Hebrews 13:8). Since He has given advance notice of the precise timing for judgment in the past, we should not be surprised that He is revealing the timing of the end today.”

The We Can Know end of the world campaign has included bumper stickers, pamphlets and even a few mainstream interviews to get the message out.

Follower Kevin Brown said to NPR that God has told him to spread the word about May 21, 2011. “People need to know,” Kevin Brown told NPR, “and God commands us to share the Gospel about the end of the world. He says if we do not share the Gospel then their blood will be on our hands, whether they believe or not. God’s been moving me to do this.”

Camping arrived at the date by the Good Book, which he says predicts that the Rapture is to occur 7,000 years after God’s first warning about the flood. Camping said the flood happened in 4990 B.C., on what would have been May 21 on today’s calendar.

One day equals 1,000 years to God, and God gave Noah one week of warning. And thus, there is a 7,000-year gap between Noah’s flood and the Rapture, bringing us to May 21, 2011.

Not everyone believes the clock will run out on May 21. The American Vision organization points out that Camping initially said the end of the world would occur in 1994.

“In spite of the failure of his 1994 Rapture prediction, Harold Camping is predicting May 21, 2011, as the date the Rapture will take place,” the organization states. “American Vision is so confident that Camping is wrong, we are holding our National Prophecy Conference just a few weeks after his predicted rapture date.”

Judgment Day is also a great week to throw a party, according to the American Atheists, who do not believe in God. The Atheists are hosting a Rapture after-party to prove that Camping is wrong. –zondra hughes

You just made a very valid point on why I have such a hard time "finding my faith". SO many religions and Chruches/people have twisted and contorted it. They put the fear in you.

They WANT you to be afraid of hell. How else do they expect many of these people to keep their faith?

A lot of them wouldn't if not for the fear of damnation.

I don't know, but it's really a fairly modern emphasis in the history of Christianity and extremely over simplies things to the point of a childrens fairy tale. Maybe it's too much work these days for people to tackle the real purpose of Christianity which is bringing Heaven to Earth. It's much simpler to say a prayer and think you are good to go. Thinking salvation in Christ is primarily about going to Heaven or Hell it like going to a Chiefs game for the half time show. It's a part of it, but not the real meat and potatoes of it.

I asked my HS teacher, a philosophy major, his view on God/Religion. His answer has pretty much stuck with me my entire life now.

His Answer: The biggest issue he has with it is that religion does not reward good behavior and morality. The whole schtick with the bible is to teach good morals and to love your neighbor and the lord. Those are the teachings of Jesus Christ.

But loving the lord trumps all. You can be a person of outstanding Charector. You can be a person who never "sins". You never told a lie, committed adultry or murder. You're the model human being.

But if you don't follow/love the Christian God, none of that matters. The bible teaches you to be a good person. You can be the best person in the world. But if you don't love their god, you're going to hell.

So, ima be the best person I can be. But i'm not going to sit here and throw money at a church, or stress myself to follow every teaching to a "T". I'm not going to sit here and study the bible and put my faith in man. If god does exist, he'll know that i was a person of high morality. If he lets me in, great. If not, at least I'll know I lived a good life.

You're right. But that's the state of religion right now. And I don't mean to say all religion either. I'm sure there are Churches out there that aren't the devil.

I can only speak of what I've experienced. And from what I've experienced, Chrurches/religion are the devil.

How can you accept Christ in your heart if you don't know he exists? They get a free pass. Bible says so. Murder and Rape does not keep you out of heaven.

All you have to do is repent "And thou shall be saved".

It's denying God's love that sends you to hell.

The overbearing nature of the general message that is taught by organized religion drives away so many people. I haven't been to church, a whole lot, or in along time, but I can tell you that there are some that are not filled with extremists.

I don't think someone has to throw money at a church or worry about following every teaching to a T to show they love God.

Particularly the following every teaching to a T part. If you're referring to basically obeying the commandments, remember that none of us do. We're all sinners. That's the whole point. The commandments are not there to be something we beat ourselves up over because we fail. They're there to help us realize we need Jesus to save us.
