Hi,

I'd like to know what beans you enjoy? How you make them? What side-items you include. Condiments atop their finished product.

Just go on and on for months about nothing but beans, here.

I love beans and they're super healthy, affordable and act as a virtual meat.

Anyone ever use ham base?

Anyhow - go on about your bean preferences!

Today I'm fixing Great Northerns and Pintos / Medley - Ham hock as well

This is my go to bean recipe that I used to enter into BBQ comps as a side dish.

Fry up a half pack of bacon and chop it up into pieces to add later. Put one can plain old van kamps pork and beans into a pan with 2 cans pinto beans, 1 can butter beans, one can red kidney beans, and one can white kidney beans or navy beans, and one can butter beans. Fine dice up one red pepper and one green pepper and one onion and put in the pan with the beans. Add the bacon. Add in 3 cups brown sugar, 1/2 cup worchestershire, 1 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoon louisiana hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.

Now, if you are smoking a brisket, simply put the pan under the brisket, smoke the beans for 3 hours, let the brisket juice drip into the beans, then add some chopped brisket at the end of the cook. If you are just making the beans, then add one or two tablespoons of liquid smoke to the beans, and put them into the oven with some chopped brisket (available at most grocery stores) and bake for 3 hours.

I've added some mustard or vinegar to them as a change and really like it that way. Just about 1/4 cup would do. If you need a bit more salt, add some soy sauce. It adds nice depth to it also

If you like yellow mustard you are missing out but I understand the hesitation as I remember the first time I heard about it I was like WTF?

Have not tried that kit though admittedly I don't cook much.
That said, I do have a nice pot of chicken and rice with cheese and broccoli going right now.
