Texas' McCoy 'not going anywhere,' QB tells newspaper
ESPN.com news services

Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy will return for his senior season, the Austin American-Statesman reported Monday on its Web site.

"I'm not going anywhere," McCoy told the newspaper.

McCoy, who had previously said he would file paperwork to receive feedback from an NFL advisory committee about his draft prospects, is hungry for a national title after the Longhorns fell just short of a berth in the BCS championship game, the Statesman reported.

"I'm coming back because we have a solid coaching staff," McCoy said. "And I'm coming back because I feel like I can develop the young receivers we have."

The Longhorns (11-1), who will face Ohio State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5, finished the regular season ranked third in the BCS standings behind Oklahoma and Florida.

McCoy, a redshirt junior, said Monday he had also decided against testing the waters for the draft or seeking an evaluation for his coaches at UT from the NFL.

McCoy set team records this season with 3,445 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. The Heisman Trophy contender also led the team in rushing with 576 yards.

McCoy had hinted before that he would stay for a fourth year at Texas.

"I've been blessed to be able to play here," McCoy told The Sporting News in October. "Not very many people get to [start] here for four years, so what an opportunity."

Someone will probably take him within the first four rounds, but I doubt there is any team stupid enough to touch Tebow in the first. Tebow hasn't shown much in college that would indicate he has the skills to play qb in the NFL and his physical tools aren't anything special. He has an average arm, isn't that tall; and his running style doesn't translate to the pros.

I'm pretty sure he's 6'4 and weighs about 230lbs, he has size, he just has a really really shitty throwing motion.

See above. And that doesn't even tell half the story with his shotput windup.

Is he really 6'4, I didn't realize he was that tall. But his throwing motion is so horrendous, and you don't find many cases where someone successfully completely alters his throwing mechanics. But his mechanics are far from his only issues; he's never played behind center; he's never really had to read defenses or make NFL quality throws; and even in college he is often an inaccurate passer. He hasn't shown anything that translates to the pro game.

I don't like Tebow either but I fully expect someone will take him somewhere in the draft with the project idea.

If guys like Michael Robinson can get on NFL rosters someone can find something for Tebow to do.

On Mike & Mike this morning, Dick Vitale relayed a story that Tebow was at a Kenny Chesney concert along with one of Peyton Manning's friends. The friend sent Peyton a text message telling him he and Tebow were hanging out, and Manning's response was "Tell him he'll be an all-pro fullback in the NFL."
