Cassel to start Week 1?
According to Schefter

• More and more, it sounds as if Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel should be ready for Kansas City's regular-season opener. Cassel does have the strained medial collateral ligament, but when the lights go on, the organization believes he will be there. And you know who else will be there? Tyler Thigpen. Despite speculation the Chiefs could be dealing Thigpen, they will not. Nor does it seem like they ever were willing to do so. Thigpen will be on the Chiefs opening day roster.

If Cassel is healthy for Game 1... Let him play.
Are we going to sit him everytime the Chiefs play one of the NFL's top defenses?
He wouldn't play at all if the team ever managed to make the post-season.

This is the NFL. If he's your guy...he's your guy.

I just don't see the reason why we'd even consider that.
That's a defeatist mentality that will keep this organization from ever being in a position to contend.

If he's NOT healthy I wouldn't want him taking snaps against the CHIEFS' defense, but if he is... You can't be afraid he'll take his lumps. He can do that against ANY defense. Especially with this Offensive Line.
