91-0 Texas HS football blowout leads to bullying charge from a concerned parent
Bullying or no?
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highsc...101510025.html . Aledo's 91-0 victory was so dominant an opposing parent filed a bullying charge — BearcatBoosters.org Each week there are football blowouts across the nation. Rarely are they more one-sided than the 91-0 rout Aledo High (Aledo, Tex.) put on Western Hills High (Fort Worth, Tex.). Now, one parent has apparently been so concerned by the final scoreline that they took the extraordinary step of filing an official bullying report with the school district because of the thrashing. As reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and other Dallas-area outlets, the official bullying report was filed by a Western Hills parent on Saturday, hours after the final whistle ended the most one-sided game so far this year in the Lone Star state. Texas regulations require Aledo's principal to launch a full investigation into the bullying allegation. The administration is then to produce a written report addressing the bullying complaint. If it was surprising that Aledo racked up 91 points on Friday, it was no shock that their win was a dominant one. The Bearcats are among the state's most powerful squads year-in, year-out. Friday's victory improved the team's record to 7-0, with Aledo now averaging a whopping 69 points per game. They've outscored their district foes by an incredible 77 points-per-game. In the immediate aftermath of the most recent rout, both coaches agreed that there was no intention of the near 100-point gap in the scoreline. The two coaches spoke to the Star-Telegram about the blowout, and in a unique twist both expressed a sincere sense of regret about the way the game played out. In particular, Aledo coach Tim Buchanan spoke to multiple outlets asserting that his team's frequent blowouts have become a source of embarrassment for the program. "I think the game was handled fine," [Western Hills coach John] Naylor said. "They're No. 1 for a reason, and I know coach Buchanan. We're fighting a real uphill battle right now. "We just ran into a buzzsaw, you know," Naylor said. "[Aledo] just plays hard. And they’re good sports, and they don’t talk at all. They get after it, and that’s the way football is supposed to be played in Texas." "I'm upset about [the bullying report]," controversial Aledo coach Tim Buchanan told the Star-Telegram. "I don't like it. I sit there the whole third and fourth quarter and try to think how I can keep us from scoring. "I looked around [after Friday's victory] and asked, 'Is there anyone here that feels good?'" |

The parent that filed that charge should never watch a football game for the rest of their life.

This pisses me off. There is not supposed to be so much crying and whining in football. My 10 yr old's football league has to pull all starters if up by 28. There are several teams that then have to put starters back in if they are able to catch up. My son's team only has 16 players on it though, and they play iron man. Teams always complain when they go up over 28 on them, but there isnt a lot that can be done about it. Teams always try to go into an offensive shell after getting up, but when other team sucks that bad and they cant stop anything, it happens. They dont ever just call games either. Teams shouldn't be complaining, if they get beat that bad then look for a new coach and figure out a way to beat the guy in front of them.

I feel bad for the kid who's mom filed the bullying report...domineering mom taking control of the situation. I'd rather have my mom go up and bitch slap the coach after the game for allowing his team to be beaten 91-0....that would be more effective =) lmao

She should either have her kids play soccer, or teach them to play hockey and have them only play against the hapless Nashville Predators who could not run the score up on an empty goal.

This.
Also, one thing football teaches you is, sometimes in life, you just get beat. Sometimes you get beat real bad. That's real life. This Texas mom is probably related to the whiny Texans fan who was bitching about Arrowhead. Tell your little peckerhead kids to suck it up. Life is not perfect. Some days you get your ass handed to you. |
