Which drugs have you used recreationally?

There’s a debate in DC right now that’s got me a bit curious about the people’s drug use.

I’m going to play fast and loose on what is considered a drug and how they’re grouped/separated. If you have tried any of these options, even once, please note it in the poll options.

Also, feel free to discuss anything drug related as non-politically as possible.

Do you have any idea how much Pibb Xtra a person could buy for that?

Answer: this much. It would last me for a month.

Really really smart guys often experiment with drugs.

There's some wall you're supposed to break through and achieve complete comprehension of the planet. I've never done it. It lasts about 4 minutes and feels like 3 days. We should do it together and collect data.

I'll buy you all the Pibb.

Sorry "Thumbs down" guy. Alcohol is a life destroying substance for a lot of people.

You can drink in moderation? Good for you. I can too. But millions of people CANT and it leads to pretty terrible shit.

It belongs on this list just like any other substance that can be abused.

No freaking way meth is at 25%. I've been no choir boy and I have never known anyone personally who has taken it. Maybe a few select neighborhoods in eastern Jackson county could hit that. Maybe some biker gangs could hit that. Maybe "the don't really have a disability" crowd has hit that, but by and large alot of these drugs listed are only used by folks on the bottom rungs of society's ladder. Oh me? Tried 3 recreationally. Only ever hooked on one - snuff.

While I've never had a real problem with drinking or gambling, I think those would probably be the hardest to shake because they're both legal and heavily marketed. Once I made the conscious decision to quit coke, it really wasn't that hard for me. I simply deleted all the coke idiots from my life and stopped going to the places I had done it or acquired it. The physical need part bleeds away quickly, and after that it's all in your head. It's not like you constantly see ads on TV for "Pure Colombian" or "The Champagne of Crack," or pass businesses dedicated to the sale or use of coke all the time, or pass a group of people standing outside the office freebasing on your way to work. And at one point early on I tried going to a couple of NA meetings, but they didn't help me at all. Sorry, but sitting in a circle with a bunch of druggies talking about drugs just made me want to go get some drugs. And I've watched an idiot ass gambling junkie who had a non-working wife and baby drop his entire paycheck into a video poker machine at a bar, and that was completely legal. I was practically begging the guy to stop. It was like talking to a wall.

I will also say this - when I first partook in every single addictive substance I checked on the list, I was already drunk at the time. And all of the most dangerously stupid things I've done in my life involved alcohol. Is alcohol a gateway drug? Abso****inglutely. But it's not going away, and neither is gambling.

Alcohol isn't a habitual thing, but I'm definitely a social drinker, and I do a lot of socializing.

Weed, though, is a near-daily thing. I was pretty wound up when I was younger and honestly think I had some weird mental health things going on. There are downsides to weed, obviously, but I feel like it has mellowed me out and actually had a major positive impact on my career. I only smoke late at night before bed, but the calming impact has helped me to deal with some pretty stressful situations with poise. It's not for everyone, but it's been great for me.
Yeah I have pretty bad ADHD that manifests itself mostly mentally with a billion thoughts firing constantly. Sort of like an asteroid field of almost all superfluous thoughts, which is extremely distracting and makes it damn near impossible to focus. It also leads to almost constant anxiety as well. While weed does have some negative effects, it slows down the field of thoughts and turns them to a more linear line and it really helps me concentrate on one thing at a time. I've always hated the "stupid stoner" cliché because it actually helps me function BETTER in some ways.

The commination of the two is what's really dangerous. You get drunk and you want some coke to "wake up" then you get too wired so you need some booze to "chill out" and on and on and on...

Just had to tell these guys who moved into the office next to mine to stop smoking weed inside the building.

Our offices are only divided by some locked doors and a hall, and the bathroom they use has a (locked) door that leads to my office.

They got my whole ****ing office and store front smelling like a hot-box'd car.

Last thing i need is my customers walking in and thinking im lighting up at work.

****in' morons.

Thanks for the compliment.

And while I've never broken through the 4th wall, I have touched the nexus of space and time and it's glorious!

Gambling has a multi-billion dollar safety net to fall back on. Part of the agreement to legalize gambling here was to setup crisis centers to help gambling addicts. In fact, the support costs for gambling are so high, the state rarely makes money between all the tax abatements and casino incentives and the support costs for addicts and the like.
