I disagree. KU shoots a lot of threes. Going into yesterday's game they were the #2 three-point shooting team in the NCAA. Collins, Reed, Morningstar, Henry (x2), and Taylor have the green light. The Morris twins, Aldrich, and other post players, not so much... and for a good reason: post players should not have to score from outside the arc. If they're not scoring in the post, or at least within 15ft, they are not doing their job.

I do agree that Self's tenets are defense and offensive discipline. That is a solid foundation. It was good enough to win a NC ;-)

but when things get tight, Self yells "go inside,go inside ... don't shoot that dam shot from outside!!" The team gets nervous and the outside shooting turns to complete shit against good teams. I'm talking about wide open, uncontested shots. Hell they even get nervous and can't shoot free throws.

Watch Xavier Henry ... he was shooting great from the outside to start the year but i bet you he gets nothing but worse from the outside now that he is under self.

I think it's more of him wanting his team to get back to their fundamentals rather than him "freaking out". If they play their game they win. If they are down, it is most likely due to the fact that they've not been playing their game... as was the case yesterday (and the previous game against Cornnell).

I'm not worried about it. They are still working the kinks out; I want them to learn lessons along the way then peak in March.

Not so sure about that.... I don't think Self necessarily dislikes an up-tempo game, he's just not going to sacrifice getting back and playing defense in order to run with another team. Yesterday they weren't hitting 3s, and they also missed several easy shots inside... not much Self can do about that. Some of the defensive lapses have been frustrating this year, and when you're not shooting well, they'll kill you.

There's nothing Bill Self can do about a poor shooting team making all of their 3's. And there is definitely nothing he can do about all of his big men not showing up. Stop whining...it's pathetic.

The sophomore calss has been a huge disappointment - the Morrises and Taylor continue to have turnovers and bone-headed plays.

And it has a huge effect on KU, since the senior and junior classes barely exist (in terms of numbers). Self recruited these guys to be a backbone (like Kaun, Jackson, and Robinson), but they are struggling just to be on par with the talent and poise in other previous classes.

Agreed. When the shots aren't falling defense can at least keep you in the game. If it's not being played well either then I don't care which team your talking about. That team will be in trouble. That's just how it works.
