FA QB's: Brees, Harrington, McCown
We need a QBOTF. I also suspect that Joey Harrington will be available. I'm also hoping that with Brees' shoulder surgery SD will not put the franchise tag on him again and let him go in the offseason.
If so, he'd now come cheaper than he otherwise would have given his risk (and the Chad Pennington experience). He's my #1 QBOTF candidate at the right price. Failing that, I'm hoping that Harrington gets a 2nd chance in KC. I also like Josh McCown a little. Certainly as a #2 or #3. I'm afraid we will end up with Jamie Martin again. Anyway, this is the only list I've been able to find so far. http://www.theredzone.org/2006/freea...sp?Position=QB Anthony Wright UFA Ravens Charlie Batch UFA Steelers Chris Simms RFA Buccaneers Chris Weinke UFA Panthers Craig Nall UFA Packers Damon Huard UFA Chiefs Dave Ragone RFA Texans Doug Flutie UFA Patriots Drew Brees UFA Chargers Jamie Martin UFA Rams Jeff Blake UFA Bears Jeff Garcia UFA Lions Jesse Palmer UFA 49ers Jon Kitna UFA Bengals Josh McCown UFA Cardinals Ken Dorsey RFA 49ers Kliff Kingsbury RFA Jets Kurt Warner UFA Cardinals Sage Rosenfels UFA Dolphins Seneca Wallace RFA Seahawks Shane Matthews UFA Bills Shaun Hill UFA Vikings Tim Hasselbeck UFA Giants Todd Collins UFA Chiefs Ty Detmer UFA Falcons Vinny Testaverde UFA Jets Any other options that might become available this year? |

If he were a high priced FA, I wouldn't want to tie up a lot of cap room on him, but it seems like he's going to come pretty cheap. If so, he'd make a perfect come-back player candidate. |

Brees is the only one of those choices I would like to have here. That's very unlikely to happen, unless he wants to give his shoulder more time to heal.
If not Brees draft a QB to develop in the next year or two. |

I thought Ken Dorsey was a steal coming out of college, for someone to develop. I know he got to play some this year, but I really don't know what kind of numbers he posted (not much, if there' no more interest in him than this).

Josh McCown UFA Cardinals These would be my choices since mostly they are UFA's... But realistically they are only going to go to a team that they could start for.. Not sure if they would come here and mind learning and riding the bench for 1-3 years... |

If the Lions were to keep Harrington and let Garcia go.I wouldn't mind if we looked in to him.Hes a tough, moble QB.But he is also kinda up there in age. Seneca Wallace has also looked good to me when he gets the chance, hes ugly but very moble and has been behind a solid QB for 3 years.

I was actually surprised when Arizona picked up Warner this last off season because I thought McCown was their QB for the foreseeable future. Maybe there is some issues here I am not aware of but he would be someone of interest to me.
Ragone is definitely one I would find interesting. That had to suck for him being stuck behind Carr these last couple of years. But I think he has the skills needed and with a veteran to show him the ropes in Green there is some serious upside to this kid, IMO. Last edited by Hydrae; 01-04-2006 at 05:57 PM.. |

Imho, Harrington just isn't very good. Plus, reports are that his teammates don't like him. Sounds like a Grbac.
Brees would be nice but I don't see it happening. We need to draft a QB. And maybe take a look at Ramsey from Washington. I thought he played well before Gibbs ****ed with his head. And Schaub...though he may be a flash in the pan. He looks good though and I'd start him over Vick.

All you who keep talking drafting a QB, we have done so at least twice in the last couple of years. The one I can think of off the top of my head would be Casey Clausen. I don't think he is even on the practice squad.
*EDIT: we drafted James Killian this last year as well and we have noone on the practice squad. * So I don't know why anyone would think we can draft a QBOTF at any time and certainly not in the later rounds. Last edited by Hydrae; 01-04-2006 at 06:15 PM.. |
